Chapter 8 ~A Dip In The Water

Shane’s POV

A groan escaped my mouth as I rolled over onto my side. My head felt dizzy and clogged, causing me to remember nothing but doing our challenge. Everything else was a complete blur. My body felt weak, and I struggled sitting up.

When I managed to lean against the wall I noticed Bryce staring at me, looking almost afraid.

“What?” I suddenly blurted out.

He looked taken aback by my question but quickly answered back, “Nothing.”

I started to shift my body into a comfier position but stopped when pain shot through my side. I slumped to the ground not caring if I was comfortable, as the pain was too much. I was about to ask Bryce what had happened but he seemed to read my mind and beat me to it.

“That pain is from being stabbed by a needle.”

“W…why?”

“Well we were doing our challenge and when it ended Cooper told us Deon won the challenge and you completely lost it.” He voice sounded amused as he explained to me what happened.

“Why?” I asked again still confused why I got stabbed with a needle.

“So Cooper told us what prize Deon would get, which was two hours with Audrey. You got so mad because obviously you were jealous…” I glared at him, knowing his comment was true, but still annoyed. “Anyways you lost control, jumped Deon and started punching and beating him up. One of Cooper’s men pulled you off of him and stabbed you with a needle so you would stop freaking out,” he smirked at the last part of his sentence. I bet it would have been funny to watch.

That was when it all came back to me; everything. I could even remember Jada whispering for me to stop. Guilt filled my body as I looked down to Deon’s unconscious body. He was just trying to survive by listening to Cooper and I got mad at him for it. I knew I had to apologize once he woke up.

My eyes flickered back to Bryce when he started to speak again. “Don’t feel bad I probably would have done the same thing, but I wouldn’t have gotten stabbed with a needle.”

I let out a chuckle knowing he would have exactly done the same thing and I guarantee it would have been hilarious. We fell into a comfortable silence waiting for everyone to get up. I was nervous about what may occur when Deon was going to get up. I didn’t know how he was going to react to seeing me, considering the last time we saw each other I had attacked him.

I sat there awkwardly leaning against the wall as the other guys woke up. I wasn’t expecting him to talk to me but when he did it caught me off guard.

“Well, well look who’s here; watch out boys he might beat you up if you listen to Cooper.”

I rolled my eyes and was about to snap back at him but I knew I probably deserved that. I saw out of the corner of my eye Bryce’s body stiffen like he was ready to actually attack him. I waved him off and proceeded with trying to apologize to Deon.

“Look man I’m sorry I freaked out on you yesterday, I was mad and frustrated and I took my anger out on you. I guess being kidnapped and the chance of not making out of here alive really got to me.”

“Not to mention jealous too…” Bryce muttered under his breath.

I glared over at him but heard Deon let out a small chuckle. I turned around to face him, not yet finished with my apology. “I’ll admit I was jealous you got to be with Audrey and I didn’t with Jada so I’m sorry.”

He had a serious look on his face but after awhile it softened and I knew he had forgiven me. “It’s alright, I get it. I would have done the same if our places were switched.”
