During the entire day of school, Melissa heard a few people talking about her in her first three classes. She wasn't bothered by it, though. She had no room TO be bothered by it. With grades, swimming, moving, and Jionni all on her mind, she didn't have much of a choice when it came to caring. While she was in her second hour health class, the teacher passed back tests to everyone while everybody took notes on the board. When Melissa got her test back, she was alarmed by the grade she got since it was her first time getting it.

A D+.

"Wait a minute, hold the fuck on." Melissa scoffed loudly as she held up her paper. "What the hell is this?"

"Excuse me?"

Everyone in the class started laughing at what Melissa said to the teacher as she gave Melissa a surprised look. She was starting to inherit Jionni's mouth a lot.

"This shit ain't right." Melissa said as she shook her paper. "How the hell did I get a D?"

"Melissa, would you like to go down to the principals office?"

"No!?"

"Then I suggest you keep your comments to yourself." The woman grinned as she continued to hand out papers.

Melissa shook her head and slumped down into her seat, balling her paper up and tossing it on her desk.

"She funny as hell..." One girl smiled. "I knew that she wasn't all that nerdy."

When Melissa looked, she noticed that it was the girl that Trina was walking with.

"You guys talking about me?" Melissa asked.

"Yeah, nerd." One of the boys smiled.

"I swear I was being serious." Melissa scoffed. "I mean, how the hell do I get a D?"

As the bell rang, the students got up and prepared to head to their third hour class. As Melissa gathered her books, Trina's friend smiled and walked up to her.

"Where you sittin' at lunch, girl?" Trina's friend asked. "I noticed dat' you be eatin' by yourself like Cady in Mean Girls. Hah!"

"I don't know. Why?"

"Well come sit wit' me, Trina, and the girls." She smiled as she walked off. "We gone be at da' same table."

Melissa cracked a small smile, looking down at the floor. She was finally starting to make her own friends.

When Melissa got to lunch, she immediately began to walk over to where Trina was. When she saw an empty seat next to her, she scooted in and sat with all of the girls. She was so used to hanging out with boys she didn't necessarily know how to "hang out" with them properly. As she sat down, Trina smiled and placed her bag of chips down.

"Aye y'all, this Melissa." Trina smiled.

"Yeah, she cussed the teacher out in second hour today." Trina's friend chuckled.

"Melissa, das' Mercedes." Trina smiled, pointing at her. "She named afta' something her family can't afford."

"Whatever, bitch."

"Hey." Melissa said in a shy tone, waving a little.

One thing Melissa noticed about the girls is that they were wearing clothes that were a little "fast". They weren't too revealing, but they were clothes that her father would NEVER allow for her to wear. For example, Trina was wearing a skin tight black top that showed her cleavage along with some black leggings. Mercedes was dressed in some really short shorts, another girl had her cleavage out as well, and a majority of them had a weave or faces were coated in makeup. Just when she thought that they weren't thinking about it..
