The following events take place several years before The Evil Within. This was the time period when Dr Marcello Jimenez was kidnapping and sending patients and people from Beacon to experiment inside STEM without Ruvik. This is when they all started coming back from STEM dead or in an erratic state of mind which made Jimenez suspicious that this was somehow Ruvik's doing so he continues to send more people inside STEM so he can interview them later.
The main character (fortunately) becomes a part of these experiments and is thrown into the STEM.
