I turned the volume all the way up on my iPod as Breaking Benjamin began playing. The lightning I was watching from my balcony flashed even brighter, almost as if flashing with my growing anger. I hadn't held back, but let the tears fall.

Destiny had taken far more blows from my step-father than was necessary for my sake, and I had allowed it to happen. I'd sat huddled in a corner as she took my punishment, and all the while she hadn't even uttered a sound as to distinguish if she was in pain or not.

It was only when my step-father had grabbed a broken table leg had I intervined. Which was why I was currently graced with a throbbing blue-black eye.

My step-brothers, Keith and Kyle, had watched the entire circus and not said a word, ony expected us to pop right back up and kiss their feet.

"I wish they would all just up and die." I cursed, grinding my teeth together.

But everyone did up and die. Which is why I'm writing this, remembering things best kept secret, locked away somewhere deep and dark. I'm writing this to tell you about the day the world ended, the day of the Longest Hours.
