And then there was Adam
Adama, earth
Picked up from the dust and the silt
Created in the image of God
And the Rain that fell from the Sky onto the Earth puddled into Adam
Adama, Adam, the imperfect mirror
Reflections in water are marred by the flaws in its surface
Such that we can ignore the flaws in our own
There is another story
Adonai saw that Adam was lonely and so reached inside of them and split them apart
And then there was Chava
Chaya, living one
Adam saw Chava and saw that she was alive
And the breath inside of him was within her too
Chaya, Chava, the broken mirror
Created to fill the space she had emptied
The Moon asked Adonai how she was to share the sky with the Sun
And for her pains she was diminished
Adam named Chava ishah, and they were two sides of the same coin
What adama began chaya ended
God saw that they were good
