It was dawn when I usually wake up everyday. When I open my eyes terror struck me, today was the "reaping". I try to take my mind off of that but I couldn't. Then I knew I had a family to feed so I got my old real leather jacket and wore my worn out hunting boots and left. I past by the the fields where most of the peacekeepers and animals were at but I didn't care. That field is for hunting food for the capital, and they reward you by grain. I only work there once a month. But if your really clever, like me there's a meadow by the field with animals to eat on your own. As of course I got my knife and a bow and arrow. I made sure the peacekeeper can see that i was walking to the field. It was a risky chance but i had to do it ,Most people who do this and get caught get killed.
I made eye to eye contact to the peacekeeper that was my friend, Justin. The deal was I can hunt I have to give him half. But before I can move another step he looks at me again then I know he wants me over. When I came over to see why he wants me here, Then I took another look at him. His black hair look like it was silk. And his icy blue eyes was check me out also. He had a confused face. "Why aren't you dressed for the reaping" said Justin. I looked at myself " But my hair's brushed" I said. He giggled. "Happy Hunger Games Quinn" he says passing me a piece of bread. When he gives me something for like this I know he feels sorry for me. I'm only sixteen years old and I'm shaking like a chihuahua. He puts his arm around me and said "Gets some good game today". We both smiled then I trotted away
