Chapter Four

View: Jade

Date: September thirteenth

“I’m being serious! I think he actually likes me now,” I crossed my arms stubbornly facing my two friends.

“Oh come on, you’re talking about Ian Mazza. I don’t think he’s ever been with a girl that he hasn’t cheated on within the first week,” Paula answered making a face. “That kid is horrible.”

“Oh shut up, he’s not bad!” I retorted.

“Then if he liked you, why didn’t he ask you out at the end of last year when you two were supposedly ‘talking’?” Paula mimicked my tone.

“I never understood that term, ‘talking’ it’s either you’re dating or you’re not. Talking is just a term used for guys like Ian who just want girls to screw around with for a while,” Maddy backed up Paula.

I scowled at them and turned to walk away.

“Wait, Jade,” Paula reached out for my arm. “We’re not trying to bring you down; we just don’t want to see you get your hopes up for him again. We know you can do better.”

I turned back around, and eased my stance a bit. “I don’t want to do better than him.”

“Well, if he really makes you that happy-“ Paula started.

“He does,” I confirmed.

“Then we’ll be here for you,” Maddy gave a small smile.

“Thank you guys, that’s all I ask,” I walked over and hugged them both.

First period had just ended and since it was the second week of school, students were now aloud to get passes to travel during advisement.

I was in great mood, even if it was a Monday morning. Ian had text me and asked me to hang out with him last Friday. Then Saturday and yesterday he had texted me all day and said how cute I was and how much he missed kissing me. I couldn’t help but have the biggest smile plastered to my face. Now I was pulling out my phone viewing the newest text message from Ian.

It read; “Come to Fletcher’s for advisement”.

I smiled again. Miss. Fletcher was the guitar room teacher and probably the nicest teacher in the school. She was younger, only being in her twenties. I got a pass there a lot of last year too.

After answering Ian and getting the pass to go to Miss. Fletcher’s room, I started to head to my advisement.

I passed a couple of groups of teen walking and there was something I heard from most of the groups; Vaselia. Apparently she was some freshman girl this year, but not just any freshman girl, the best looking single freshman girl. It was annoying; I kept hearing about this girl wherever I went. All I knew about the chick is she hangs around my ex-boyfriend, Jay Pierson. Jay and I had dated in freshman year, but it only lasted a couple months. Jay was in my world history class this year, and I often saw him walking with some brown haired skinny girl. I guessed that was his girlfriend. But I didn’t care about that; I just wanted to know what was oh so great about this Vaselia girl! Her name sounded like Vaseline.
