"Dad," I said, "What am I going to do? I'll be nineteen in three days. You know what happens to an Alpha if we don't find our mate by then. We die. I need to find him. I don't care if I continue on, but I have to or you'll have to be Alpha, again, for a long time. I'm not threatening you, I'm just telling you what needs to happen."

Dad sighed, but he let out a giving up chuckle. "Why didn't you start your search for your mate months ago, like every other one before us?" I rolled my eyes as he spoke with a poker face.

"Because," I drew out the word, "I had piles and piles of Alpha duties, plus you made me organize the pack vacation. And you didn't even help."

"Vic, you are only Luna. And I did help you, I called the Alpha of the territory that we're on to see if he would let us on," my father's reasoning and compromising tone was fading.

"Whatever. I'll be in my tent," I turned around and headed to my destination. Once I stood in my tent, I muttered, "Yeah, Luna Vic. That doesn't sound like lunatic at all."

I curled up into a ball on my sleeping bag and reminisced on my past. Just last year my mother and our beta had been killed in a rouge ambush. My dad had fallen apart after wards and I had been pushed into the position. I was made my packs Luna and Co-Alpha, well Alpha until my father was stable. I love my pack, but that was the worst year of my life.

Now, he was in charge again, leaving me my Luna spot. Except, I seemed to have the most work around here, like putting together this year's pack event. I had decided that we would camp out by the Ohio River for a few days. My territory was just a few miles away from here, but there was a pack on this land. I had Dad call their Alpha. Luckily he had said yes.

'Just shut your mouth and sleep. I'm really tired too,' Kira, my inner wolf, ordered. I pulled my long, wavy, caramel hair back into a pony tail. Then, I slipped out of my violet and white Letterman jacket from my track team when I was in senior year of high school, but that was last year. By the way, I skipped eleventh grade.

     'Good night, Kira.'

'G'night Victoria,' was the last thing I heard before I fell asleep.
