Prologue

5.23.2014

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. The man sat, waiting, the only sound the constant ticking of the watch he checked for the fifth time in the last minute. If it had been any other city, a man standing outside late at night would have looked rather suspicious. But no, this was not another city; it was barely a city to begin with. In small towns such as these people were so empty minded and oblivious that a meeting on the outskirts of the town at this time was unnoticed by anyone who would pass by.

"She's late." The man spoke quietly to himself. "Not surprising though. That woman has the habit of waiting until the very last minute to do any-,"

"Talking to yourself again I see." A woman appearing almost out of nowhere caught the man off guard. "You do realize that is a sign of some sort of personality disorder?" She said with a sarcastic grin.

"And showing up late to a meeting as important as this is a sign of being untrustworthy." He bit back. He received a laugh in response to his irritation.

"Well maybe if you were more important I would have decided to show up on time." She said with a sickly sweet type of cheer.

The man spun around "Listen here you little-," but suddenly froze.

"I'm listening," She silently walked around his frozen body. "It's impolite to keep a lady waiting you know?" Silence. "Oh poor baby, cat got your tongue?" The man may have been unable to move but his eyes were wide in fear. She flicked her wrist and he was able to move again.

"Now this is how it works. I'm the one in charge. You listen to my orders, and if you talk back... well you can guess what'll happen." She smiled. "Am I understood?" The man nodded his head rapidly. "Good. Now back to the matter at hand."

The man stood back to his full height but fear was still evident in his features. "Erm yes. Is the experiment on schedule?"

"Yes, yes. Everyone has been given their medicine." The woman laughed at her own private joke.

"Even your own-,"

"Yes, him too. As ordered everyone, and I mean everyone, have been given the serum."

"What kind of woman would do this to children?" He asked cautiously.

"A woman who wants do the best for human kind. Whether its ethical or not." He looked troubled.

"Getting cold feet are we? Well you are new."

"I am new but, I don't see why we have to do this to a whole town. Hundreds of people..."

"Exitus autem quae sunt ed finem." She spoke quietly. "Then end justifies the means." If the man hadn't known any better she looked almost.... Remorseful.

"But we don't know how this will work! People could die!" A look of anger entered her eyes but there was also fear and hurt.

"Enough! Our job isn't to question this, as a higher up it is my job to ensure that this operation sees its fruitation. And that, I will do." The man was shocked.

"Y- Yes ma'am." She shifted her gaze onto the city.

"It is time to test Generation 6.0."
