The Caterpillar

Left alone to fend myself

I am but a speck on a leaf

But soon I break my humble shell

And wriggle out into a beautiful dell

For now my world is little and bound

And I know not the earth as round

But as I feed and as I grow

Changes around me I shall know

Born of a shell I make my own

For a new path I have been shown

As I break out of this new spell

I shall have a new tale to tell

The metamorphosis gives me wings

An honor denied even to kings

Soon this wide world I shall know

And seeds to a new future I shall sow
