Kamikaze

Kamikaze

still, suspended, the bird hovers, wobbles,

then plummets, streaking white,

vanishing with barely a splash

beneath steel blue waves

I wish to live in this way, abandoned

to gravity, to love, to the joy of being here, now,

in this time twisting moment, released

to being and trusting

that I will resurface

with the wriggling proof

of my desire

held tight in my jaw
