Humanity. The one thing that connects us all. The thing that keeps us all from brutally murdering all of the people we dislike. Deep down, most people care enough to let everyone else live their lives. Humanity, as deeply rooted as it is, is something that can leave a person. Sometimes it's for only a few minutes, and sometimes it's for forever. Either way, it's a terrifying thing.
The idea that we're all so fragile that the entire species could be wiped out with the loss of a single feeling is not a comforting one. Just think: you're at the mall when someone just snaps. Out of nowhere, they start throwing things. For no apparent reason, they grab a chair and use it as a weapon.
Now, imagine... It's not just one person going crazy. It's everyone around you.
