Chapter Two

Four hours later, I’m back home sitting eating breakfast. When I got back home after a two hour run, I headed straight for the shower. I love showers. I could stay in there for hours at a time. So I did.

An hour and half later I got out and headed for the closet to pick out an outfit. Since I’m meeting Dana’s family, I decided to wear black skinny jeans that weren’t ripped and a tight black sleeveless tee that shows off my tattooed arms. I kinda got hooked to tats so now I have sleeves on both arms and my entire back is covered as well. I have plans for more.

When I got downstairs, I was shocked to see my whole family sitting at the table. I glance at Momma and she had the biggest smile I’ve seen on her face in a while. That could only mean one thing.

I turned towards the kitchen and saw my Mommy fixing herself a plate of food. She looked beautiful in her slacks and blouse. I ran right over to her and grabbed her in the biggest hug ever. I hadn’t seen my Mom in three whole weeks. I lifted her and spun her in circles.

“Baby, put me down I’m getting dizzy,” she says while laughing.

I put her down but didn’t let her go. “I’ve missed you so much, Mommy.”

“I missed you too, bub,” she replies. “Now c’mon let’s eat.”

I let go reluctantly and sit at the table. Everyone looks so happy that Mommy’s home especially Momma. She misses her like crazy when she’s gone. They have been together since they were eighteen years old and are still completely in love with each other.

We all catch Mommy up with the stuff she missed while she was away. I glance down at my watch. 10:42 am. “Shit.” I’m late. Dana is gonna kill me.

“Sam, watch your mouth.” My Momma says to me as I get up from the table.

“Sorry, I’m late. I need to go to Dana’s.” I say as I give my parents a kiss on the cheek on the way out.

“I’m coming with you,” Jay says following me out to my car. I forgot to tell you, Dana is dating my sister. Yeah I know, weird right.

I slide into the front seat of my black BMW X5 M50d. I got it for my birthday last month. I start up and pull out the drive once Jay was in.

“So you excited about meeting Dana’s family?” she asks as we drive.

“Yeah, I am. I’ve never met them before and we have been best friends for twelve years.” I look over at Jay while we have stopped at a red light. She is wearing a blue button down shirt with leggings. Her black hair is up in a messy bun and has little make up on.

I only found out a few months ago that Jay was dating Dana.  They’ve been together for about a year.  “I met them like a month after we started dating.” Jay says as we begin driving again. I have no idea why I haven’t met his family yet. It’s a bit strange.

After a few more minutes we pull up to Dana’s parent’s three story home. It’s a lot smaller than ours but most peoples houses are. I park my car by the side of the street next to a black Mini. I feel kinda nervous meeting Dana’s family so I let Jay go to the door.

She knocks and an older woman answers. “Jaime it’s nice to see you again.” She says as she hugs Jay.

“It’s good to see you too, Mrs Stewart.” She replies, Jay looks to me and says, “Mrs Stewart, this is my sister Sam, Dana’s best friend.”

I reach out to shake her hand, “Nice to meet you, Mrs Stewart.” She takes my hand and asks us into the house.

“Dana has told me so much about you, Sam. I ask him to invite you over at least once a week and he always refuses. I’m glad he finally let you come. Everyone is out back.”

We follow her to the back yard where there is a few people sitting in deck chairs. Dana is sitting next to his brothers Cameron and Taylor. There is also an older man with long white hair, who I assume to be their Dad. We walk over when Dana jumps up.

“Sam, I told you not to be late and looky here, you’re late.” He says as he walks to Jay and kisses her.

I give him my biggest grin, “I’m not that late, am I? Our Mommy came home this morning so we were catching up.” I say to him as I give him a hug.

“Okay, I will let this one slide.” He went on and introduced me to his brothers and his Dad, John.

I look around not seeing any girls around, “Hey Dana, where’s your sister?”

“Umm…she went upstairs to take a phone call.” He tells me kinda nervously. I wonder what’s up.

“Okay,” I say. We all start getting to know each other for a while waiting on Dana’s sister finishing her call. About fifteen minutes later I hear the door slide open.  I can’t see who exited the door since my chair was facing away from it. I looked to Dana and his face paled. I turned around to see who it was and was rendered speechless. It was her. Kristen Stewart was in Dana’s backyard.

I couldn’t believe it. I managed to close my mouth and look into her eyes. They were the most perfect shade of green I had ever seen. I got a lump in my throat and I couldn’t swallow. She was breathtakingly beautiful. She was wearing skinny jeans and a tee like she normally does and I couldn’t imagine her looking anymore beautiful that she does right now. Man, I think I’m falling, hard.

My thoughts are broken when I see a man walk behind her and wrap an arm around her waist. Robert Pattinson was here. Great. Just ruin the perfect moment.

Now I know why Dana didn’t want me here before. He knew about my crush. I was fantasising about his sister. This is great. Brilliant actually. I thought sarcastically.

“S-Sam,” Dana stuttered, “This is my sister Kristen. Kristen, my best friend Sam.”

She reached over to shake my hand but I was still kinda shell shocked that the woman I had been dreaming about for years was right in front of me. Get a grip, Sam. Don’t make her think you’re and idiot. “Hey, gorgeous.” I say to her.

She looks at me embarrassed. OMG, did I just say that out loud.  Since I can’t take it back I act like I’ve done nothing wrong.

“Hi,” she says looking away from me. This is totally awkward. I gesture over to my seat.

“Here, have my seat. I’m going to get a drink.” I look over at Dana and eyeball him, telling him soundlessly to follow me.

Dana and Jay follow me into the kitchen. Jay has a huge smile on her face like she knows what’s about to go down.

I’m feeling so much emotions right now that I can’t get any words out when all I want to do is scream and shout at Dana for not telling me about her.

“Dana,” I say really calmly. “Care to explain why I have just met my future wife in your yard and then you telling me she is YOUR SISTER!” My voice gets louder til I end up shouting at the top of my lungs. I see Dana pale and start to shake.

“I didn’t tell you cos if you haven’t noticed 1. You just called her your future wife 2 . She’s my sister 3. She has a boyfriend and most importantly,” his voice was getting louder and louder, “SHE IS MY SISTER.”

“So it’s okay for you to date my sister but I can’t date yours, is that it?”

“Yeah, that’s exactly it. You are not dating my sister, Sam and that’s final.”

“Shouldn’t I decide who I date and who I don’t date.” A new voice says. I freeze hoping she didn’t hear my calling her my future wife cos that will not go down well with Robert standing right next to her.

She stomps back into the yard and we all follow sitting back down. There is an uncomfortable silence and no one wants to break it. I look over at Kristen and she is looking back at me. Our eyes meet and I start to feel masses of butterflies in my stomach. I can’t believe she is actually in the same place as I am. I know deep down that now I have finally met her, she is the one for me. The only one. And I’m going to get her to like me even of it takes my whole life.
