Ava's POV

"We aren't going to that party." I said stubbornly from my spot on my bed.

"Oh come on, live a little." Parker said, he was leaning against my bedroom door trying to convince me to go to Raleigh's party. It was now Friday night and he had been pestering me about it all week.

"I'm the good kid, I don't go out to parties." I informed him.

"You need to go to at least one during your high school career." He argued.

"We're not going Parker. My job is to keep you out of trouble, not lead you to it."

"Please Ava." He asked.

"Don't beg Parker, it's not attractive." I stated as I turned on the television set in my room.

"Ava, you need to have some fun. You're a teenager, not a kid, you don't get to relive this time of your life. Don't you think you'll regret it if you never do anything."

"If I never do anything, then I won't make stupid decisions that I'll regret later." I pointed out.

"But I can promise that you'll regret never doing anything. Look, you don't have to drink.. but let's go." He said. I bit my lip as I started to think about it. There was a possibility that he was right.. I could possibly regret never going out and having fun.

"I don't know.." I said, I still was uncertain about the whole thing.

"You know you want to. You're curious about it.." He said and he was right. I was curious. I had never gone to a party before, and as much as I wanted to be the good girl who stayed out of trouble, I had always been curious about high school parties.

"Okay.. fine, we can go for a little while. But we leave when I say!" I told him pointing a finger at him.

"See, I knew there a part of you that's curious about the wild side." He teased.

"Parker.. go away." I said because I knew I couldn't argue with him.

He did end up going away though. After we sat at my house for another hour doing absolutely nothing, he decided to go back to Molly and Uncle Brandon's. However, he did not leave until he reminded me that he would be back at eight and then we would be driving down to the lake.

How I let myself get talked into going, I wasn't quite sure... but I got up and got ready anyways. What do you wear to a party? That's the question that stayed in brain, since I agreed to go. I pulled almost every article of clothing I owned out of my closet and dresser. I was clueless though. Then I had an epiphany.

I pulled on my, what my mother called Daisy Duke, white shorts and a pink halter top, with a pair of sandals. I thought it was cute, but I knew I had to test it. So I went down the hall to my brothers room.

"Aiden, 'Drew, are y'all in there?" I asked as I knocked.

"Come on in Aves." Andrew called out. I stepped inside and waited as they both looked over at me.

"Why are you dressed like that?" Aiden asked as he raised an eyebrow at my outfit choice.

"I'm taking Parker to Raleigh's." I answered nonchalantly.

"Not dressed like that." Andrew responded.

"You're not leaving the house until you cover your ass." Aiden added.

"If you want to be technical about it, my ass is covered.." I stated, being a smart aleck.

"I don't care if we're being technical or not.. you're not going dressed like that." Andrew told me. I just smiled sweetly at my brothers. I had gotten the response that I had hoped for. If they were complaining about it, then I knew it was a good choice.

"I'll see y'all at the party." I told them as I turned and walked out of their room. I then went in search of my mother, so I could inform her of my plans for the evening. Luckily, my father wasn't home or else I more than likely would not have been allowed to go.

"Ava, you'd better not get into anything" Mama warned me.

"I'm not going to drink." I promised her.

"It's not just alcohol I'm worried about." She muttered. "Sweetheart, I want you to be extra careful, I understand that you need to go out and be a teenager, but don't act like an idiot."

That's what I loved about my mama. I could be honest with her about where I was going and she trusted me enough to know that I wouldn't make any stupid decisions. But then again, I had never done anything so therefore she had no reason to not trust me.

"You'd better not stay out too late either. I don't want you driving on the road after twelve." She stated.

"I'm not suppose to drive after twelve anyways." I reminded her, teenagers had a curfew.

"How many teenagers actually follow that law?" she asked me.. she had a good point. It was about five minutes before eight when I heard a knock on the front door.

"I'll see you later then." I told mama as I gave her a hug, in return, she gave me a twenty and reminded me to behave.

I opened the door and caught sight of Parker leaning against the porch railing as he waited for me. He was dressed simply, kaki shorts and a plain pink t-shirt. Even though his outfit was so simple, I had to make sure I wasn't drooling. It wasn't fair that he looked so good. I mentally scolded myself for checking him out and walked out to him.

"Ready to go?" I asked.

"Yeah.. Ready for your first party?" He asked.

"Nope." I responded, even though I was actually kind of excited. I wasn't going to admit to him that he had been right, though.

The car ride there was a peaceful one. We didn't argue like we had been doing all during the week. We just made small talk and in a way it was nice. I didn't want to admit it, but I enjoyed being around Parker. He was slowly wedging his way into my life. making me like him ever so slightly. And if I found myself looking forward to spending time with him. It was nice to have someone to playfully bicker with and talk to. My brothers had each other, but I didn't really fit in with them, because well if you haven't noticed I'm a girl. But Parker didn't make me feel like I didn't belong and I liked that about him.

"You're going to protect me, right?" I asked him, glancing away from the road to where he sat in the passengers seat.

"Do you think some drunk person is going to attack you and kidnap you or something?" He asked.

"It's possible." I told him in all seriousness.

"They would bring you back, I promise." He teased me.

"You'd probably pay them to keep me." I faked a pout.

"That's not a bad idea.." He said with a smirk.

"Jackass.." I mumbled, causing him to laugh.

"Relax Ava, I won't let anything happen to you." Parker told me. I know I seem like a baby.. I realize that he didn't know anyone at the party and I probably would know most of them, but I didn't know their party sides. I didn't know how any of them acted while they were under the influence of alcohol, so I felt like I was about to go into a house full of strangers.

"And you won't get drunk, will you?" I pleaded. I couldn't take care of a drunk Parker.

"I won't get drunk." He promised me as I pulled the car to a stop in front of the gorgeous two story cabin that Raleigh's family owned. I was about to enter my first party.
