Chapter 2

~One Year Later~

July 3

The cubs have grown and have been moved out of their mother’s enclosure; now living in the area next to their mother together. Although soon Bentley would have to be moved into a separate enclosure, but the girls are staying together for life. It’s been one year since the cubs’ birth and the zoo is having a big celebration in which the staff is going to bring out the cubs. The Alphas have even agreed to stop by to celebrate and bring along Zeke so he can meet the cubs.

Excitement was buzzing through the staff as they took care of the other animals and set up for the party. Special cakes have been made for the cats and they have decided to put Bentley in with his sisters, although some of the staff doesn’t think it’s the best idea.

As the clock struck noon the doors opened and slowly people arrived and went to the cat’s enclosure. As the crowd grew Mr. Lane and Ginger stood in front of the girls’ enclosure waiting to release and announce them.

Spotting the Alphas walking to the front Mr. Lane plastered on a smile and waved them over to their VIP seats in front. “Daniel, Pamela over here. We saved you seats.” Mr. Lane yelled out.

“Hello Ben, so how are the cats?”

“Great sir, Zeke will like them.”

“Cats,” the little boy yelled out and pulled at the hand holding him back from the fence.

“Zeke calm down they will come out soon.” Pamela scolded and picked up her son. Her soft features never changed as she cast her ever present smile on the people in front of her. Her light blonde hair pulled up in a ponytail as the sun shone brightly down in it.

“Can we begin now,” Daniel asked. Everyone loved Daniel. He wasn’t like those ruthless rulers out there. Daniel had respect and pride for his members, and always looked out for them. His features made him look like a scary guy but he was a softy, especially for Pamela. His strong jaw showed the power he held with his black cola eyes and light brown hair.

“Yes we can begin,” Mr. Lane nodded and shushed the crowd. “We are going to begin now. Everyone take your seats.” The crowd started whispering and walking quickly to their seat as the excitement grew. “Ginger will be taking over now.”

As Mr. Lane walked off Ginger took a deep breath before beginning her speak. “On this day last year for the first time, three little black leopard cubs were born. Macey was an excellent mother, raising and taking care of them. There was one boy named Bentley and two girls McKenzie and Morgan.

“From the start we could see their separate personalities. Bentley was the rambunctious little thing, always getting in trouble. McKenzie was the runt but joined in the trouble with her brother. Those two were twins; the only way to tell them apart was their gender. But Morgan was a very unique cub.

“She never showed any signs of having spots like her siblings, she was larger than her brother, and stayed to herself. She displayed dominance and protectiveness. If Bentley got too rough with little McKenzie Morgan was there to put him in his place.  To this day these cubs haven’t changed except in size. I’m done with their intros, let’s bring them out.”

The crowd applauded loudly as one black leopard ran out and tot eh cake placed in the center of the enclosure. Flashes came from every direction as people talked excitedly among each other.

“This is Bentley; we have agreed to allow him to see his sisters for today. Bentley now weighs more than Morgan but they are equal length. His spots are very visible to the human eye and have come out as he grew older. Bentley is seven and a half feet long from nose to tail. He stands three feet tall and weighs around two-hundred pounds.”
