***Mike’s POV

I was half asleep on the couch flipping through channels on the TV when Josh texted me.

Is she home yet?

I sighed.

Nope.

Where was she?

Just then, she walked through the door smiling. I shot up from the couch. I don’t really know why. She smiled at me.

“Hey, Mike!” she came over and hugged me.

“Woah.” I said as she lost her balance once she was tried putting her arms around me. She smelled kind of like alcohol. “Looks like someone is a little tipsy.”

She giggled, “Nooo.”

I chuckled as I held her up.

“So did you have fun?”

“Yes! So much fun!” she exclaimed. “Brad is fantastic!”

“Let’s get you to bed, eh?” I said as I started heading for her room.

She started giggling uncontrollably. It reminded me of her first night with us in Vancouver. She was definitely a happy drunk.

“Eh? Eh? You sound so Canadian!” she giggled. “Still have that syrup, eh?”

I smiled. She was really something else.

I put her on her bed and took off her shoes for her. She rested her head on her pillow as I put a blanket over her. She smiled at me.

“I love you, Mikey.”

I smiled at her, “Love you too, Em. Good night.”

“Night night!” she said as she rolled over and closed her eyes.

After I left her room, I called Josh.

“Hey man, she just got home and went to sleep.”

“Is that a good or bad thing?” he asked.

“Well she seemed pretty happy, but she was also drunk.”

“Woah, woah, woah, wait. He got her drunk on the first date? Was he drunk too? Did he drive her home or did she take a cab?”

I realized none of these things crossed my mind but they were all very good questions.

“I don’t know.” I admitted. “She wasn’t exactly in a place to tell me all about her night though. I’m sure she’ll tell one of us all about it tomorrow.”

He sighed. “You’re right. Well I’m going to go. Later.”

Emma stumbled out of bed late morning the next day. I was sitting at the kitchen table with my Starbucks and laptop. I smiled at her as she entered the kitchen.

“Good morning, Em! You’re just in time! I got you a Starbucks about ten minutes ago. It’s in the microwave.”

“Aw thanks!” she smiled at me as she headed towards her coffee.

She took a sip and then sat next to me at the table.

“So how was last night?” I asked. I know she answered me last night but I’d prefer a sober answer.

She smiled, “It was a lot of fun. We had dinner at this really nice place and then we hung out at a bar with some of his friends.”

I nodded. Sounded harmless enough.

“I must say that he’s quite the drinker though.” She continued on with a small laugh. “I had a bit more self control over how many drinks I was willing to have.”
