One off fanfic
(Harry is 21 and ginny is 20 they got married a week ago)
Harry had been putting off asking ginny something for over a week now. Something that he knew she'd say no to but needed her to say yes. True, he hadn't actually asked yet but he still knew the answer was no. But he must finally ask. The longing was eating him alive.
'Ginny, I need to ask you something very important.' Hearing the strain in his voice ginny recognised how badly he must have wanted to ask it. She sat down and asked him what it was.

'I was wondering if you wanted to have kids some day?' He gulped.
Ginny heard him gulp a the end and mistook it as a sign that he wanted her to say no. Of course she wanted kids. She wanted to have a baby and send it to Hogwarts and watch it grow up. But she could put it off if harry didn't want a child.
'No, why?' She said bravely.
'Ou, no reason baby' A heavy stone formed in Harry's stomach.

(... Years later at harry/Ginny's house)

Harry walked into their bedroom to see ginny lying with her hands on her stomach, face-down on the bed in tears. He ran up to her instantly and sat ginny up
'Whats wrong baby?' He asked soothingly.
'Nu-nu nothing's wrong harry.' She whimpered, wiping the tears off her face.
'Ginny I know that your lying to me so I'm going to go to the bathroom, count to 10 and when I get back I want you to tell me the truth.' He got up to go to the bathroom when ginny whispered,
'Please don't.' But harry went anyway.

In the bathroom, the sink was filled with twenty little tubes each with the word 'positive' written on it in green. Harry recognised them instantly as home pregnancy tests. He was getting the baby that he always wanted and ginny never wanted.  Harry ran back to ginny and pulled her into a hug.
'Im sorry your getting the baby you never wanted.' They both said simultaneously. 'What?' They both said simultaneously again.
Harry spoke first this time,
'A few years ago when we were sat in the kitchen, I remember asking you if you ever wanted to have children and you said no. I remember it like it was yesterday.' Then ginny spoke,
'I said no because I heard the sound of hope that it wouldn't be a yes in your voice. I did it so you would be happy. I'd wanted a baby for ages.' Ginny's eyes were becoming less red as she held harry close. He only said one sentence before they kissed,
'It was the hope that it would be a yes, and it ALWAYS will be.'

Updated opinion from over a year later- I feel embarrassed for my past self now 😳😟 literally begging that I've improved but that's all I'm gonna say before I cringe myself to death
