Esme’s POV

I calmly waited for brother, Timothy, to exit the bathroom so that we can leave for the studio. I told the girls to meet us there at three thirty in the morning, and surely they hated me for that, but this is competition season so they understood. I tried to hold yesterday’s practice early enough, so that they could get enough sleep for the day ahead of us. I just have to have my faith that they went straight home after practice yesterday, instead of going out.

Tim finally came out, car keys in hand. We decided that  we would stop at Kristy's Bakery and Cafe and get breakfast for the girls. We needed to leave out right now, which would give us thirty minutes to get the food, and get to practice at five o’clock.

Judging from the look on Tim’s face, I could tell he was thinking about the infamous speech he was going to give on the bus today. He always tries to encourage the dancers, but his way of encouragement puts a ton of pressure on the girls to do well. He looked at his watch briefly and when he saw the time, he practically ran me over in his hurry to get to the door. He got to the door, threw it open and began to run down the stairs. He was in such a rush he didn’t even realize, there was no shoes on his feet.

Huffing a deep breath and shaking my head at my brother, I made my way to his room to pick up a pair of sneakers. I choose the comfortable ones he usually wears to competitions, and left out his room. Walking down the hallway, I passed a mirror and decided to make sure every hair on my head was in place. I looked at myself, and saw that I looked tired, which was a guarantee for a  hardworking dance coach.

I heard a car horn and remembered that we had breakfast to get and practice to attend. I hurried out the door, making sure I had shoes on I quickly looked down at my feet, and left out the door. I rushed down the stairs and to the car. As soon as I hopped in on the passengers side, the car was in motion, speeding down the block towards the little bistro.

Kristy, the owner who also happened to be a close friend of mine, agreed to come in early,to make us some good breakfast we could eat. She said she was going to make sure everything was fantastic, and had enough nutrients to keep our girls healthy all day long. Suddenly the car lurched to a stop and Tim jumped right out of the car, still without shoes on. I exited the vehicle and hurried to the door. When I reached it, I walked in and tossed the shoes to Tim, just narrowly missing his face. When the shoes whizzed by his eyes, he seemed to snap out of his trance. He picked up his shoes and sat down to put them on. I headed towards the kitchen to find Kristy.

“K?” I called rounding the corner to the kitchen. What I saw when I turned was unexpected and quite frankly scared me. There was boxes upon boxes of food. This better be for something other than my dance team. It better be. But as I began to look through the boxes, all I saw was, Riveria Dance Company cupcakes. Cupcakes! Fifteen boxes of black and gold iced cupcakes.

“Kristy?” I yelled even louder and harsher. I can’t believe she made all of these cakes. I asked her to make breakfast, not deserts.

“Yes? How can I help you, Sweetie?” putting on an innocent face she walked up to me and gave me a tight hug. “I see you’ve found the favors. What do you think?” she pointed, indicating the boxes  already saw.

“I think I asked you to make breakfast, not desserts. What am I going to do with fifteen boxes of cupcakes?”

“Fifteen? Oh no, there’s thirty more boxes in the fridge. I was just pulling them all out. They’re for the competitors. I didn’t know how many to make so I just guess-ta-mated, and made five hundred and forty. Hopefully that’s enough.” she told me excitedly, looking around at all of her hard work. Instead of fighting her on the issue, I gave in. I wouldn’t have one the fight anyway. Kristy always gets her way with me.
