The Cat Child
copy right 2010
Of all the things you'll be hard pressed to see, is the cat child that smiles next to me.
She smiles as she sits
Sits as she smiles
and sometimes like the cat she so adores purrs just like it
sometimes she is aloof just like a cat
sometimes she stretches
just like a cat
sometimes she curls up with a book or looks out the window all curled up
she can sit or so I have heard on the thinnest fence just as a cat does
she climbs up and jumps down just as a cat does
but my child is no cat
as much as she would wish to be
she says to me she wishes she were a big furry house cat on a big poof ( a type of pillow)
treated to delicacy and delights then to prowl the house by night
"It be a very big house like some big mansion
I would never have to go to school,"
She says, my cat child,
"Never have to do homework
No test no homework
No stress at all if I could be a real cat a house cat."
So says my cat child to me
As she curls up in bed next to me and purrs and asks me to read to her...
She is really like a cat my cat child no human they say can really purr but she does
All she misses to be a cat besides taller ears and
A tail
Is fur
And I am thankful that none of these she has because cats can't sing like she does or tell you things as
My cat child does
Cats don't for all they maybe good company
Bring you a Soduko to play
Or if asked can tell you the time of day
There are so many things they can not do (cats)
Except be pampered and spoiled its true
Or chased by dogs or cruelly treated
but my cat child doesn't see all that
for all I try to tell her.
She smiles and purrs and says meow
I can only hope
She doesn't truly like some fairy story turn into a cat for real.
Or disappear leaving only a smile
The perfect imitation of a cat as she purrs so per r r r fectly
This is why you'll never have seen, a cat, like my cat child
who smiles as she purrs next to me.
