I have a terrible fear that upon reading my work, those that know me personally will surmise that I have changed and that if they spoke to me now, I would know what to say.

I need you to know that I am the same person I always was. I have not changed. I am no less awkward than I was when you last tried to talk to me; no less introverted than the last time you saw me sitting quietly by myself, not speaking to anyone at all. For some reason—a reason for which I do not know—something inside of me changes when I write. I suddenly know all of the right words to say.

My words are most beautiful when they remain unspoken, resounding silently throughout the air and echoing within minds. That is why I am writing spoken word poetry that will forever remain unspoken—at least, unspoken by me.
