Cherry Soda

Chapter 1

Noah ran a hand through his already dishelved hair in fustration. Saturday. Saturday was their anniversary. And yet he was still utterly clueless of what he was going to do. Exasperated he looked around his office, trying to find just one thing that would inspire him, until his eyes settled on the blank notepad on his slightly messy and disorganised desk. There was no inspiration to be found in the long rows of cubicles or his blank computer screen.

Bored, he began to fidget, until Mr Wells, his boss, walked past his cubicle and gave him a pointed glare for playing basket ball with the bin in the corner of the cubicle.

Noah sighed, and rested his head on top of the palms of his hands. What was he going to do? Lacey wasn't the kind of girl who did adventurous stuff. He had learned that lesson when they went to the park and she had broken one manicured finger nail. She had complained for a whole week even though she had cut their day short so she could go to her manicurist.

Noah wanted to do something special for Lacey. Something more than just going to the expensive posh restaurant down on fifth street, that was bound to put a whole in his pocket.

Lacey was the kind of pharmaceutical dyed blonde who didn't do active stuff, burgers or anything that contained fat or tasted good. Lacey was just Lacey. The word manufactured sprung to Noah's mind when he thought of her. Lacey never seemed to be relaxed or even remotely care free whenever she was in anyones presence. It felt as if she was constantly acting, trying to be perfect in everybody's eyes.

Of course Noah had thought about dumping her before, he thought about it every time she would glare at him until she got her own way, and smile way too sweetly at other guys even though he was right behind her.

But he couldn't dump her. Lacey had been there for him right after..

So every time they went out, Noah made sure not to notice the waiters that always discreetly - or so they thought - to Lacey.

When Noah just about made it into the train, and slouched down on the subway seat, he wondered how his life had gotten so shit so fast. He was so happy last year. And now he was stuck in a relationship with someone he didn't really like and a sucky job, that always made him feel claustrophobic.

And for the umpteenth time Noah let his mind wander to what it was like last year. He let his heart suffer the gut wrenching pain of remembering what it was like with.. Rose...

It was just after nine o'clock when Noah unlocked the door of his apartment. But there was something wrong. Boxes loitered the floor of his aparment.

Author's note:

This is honestly too short for a chapter. So lets call it a milli-chapt. It was supposed to be longer.. But I know some of you were eager to read this. You know who you are. Anywho I will be making up for this chapters shortness. I want this to be written properly so I will not be having fixed updates. I'm really sorry! They won't be something long like 3 weeks, more like 2 or 1 and a half.

Elizabeth,

Ps. I know its un-edited. I'll do that later .
