Dealing with one person and then another
Can’t seem to juggle two things yet still too upbeat to step back and bother
Parchments tossing all over the hall
She managed to say ‘hi’ but not manage to gaze at all
Planning another meeting while looking for some more
Setting interviews like meeting old friends on a stall
Wondering if your day could get any busier
Wondering if after this day there’ll be someone worth the wait
The tired looks, the snorts and smirks for every colourful unnecessary statements,
And the odd amazement from the crowd’s unbelievable sympathy
Mostly grateful, mostly dreaming of soft cushions and late night TV shows
Mostly, can’t wait for another big beat to show
All those misspelled names, those editor’s screams... those reporters running away
There can always be room for more, for work, those last minute headlines
It all look tiring but it will always be tempting
That girl who can’t always just seat back
With books on one hand and papers on the other
While struggling to be on time yet already made excuse for cover
A perfect excuse to not have a date because there is none
Those days when she matters at all
