It's been a year now since the last time we saw you.

Laughing and fighting as siblings often do.

Teasing, and scratching, and clawing out eyes.

Not ever worrying about when one of us dies.

You didn't go quickly. You fought till the end.

Promising us that you would not surrend.

But as you got sicker and the meds stopped there magic,

You slowly got weaker like an unthinkable habit.

I sat by your bed every day after school.

Hauling in cards though you thought you weren't cool.

In fact to me, you were the coolest alive.

Partying with friends, listenin' to "I Will Survive".

A month before it happened, you talked to me alone.

While carresing my arm I saw the strength that had shone.

You told me that no matter what happens you will always be there.

Laughing with me when I would play Truth or Dare.

I was in your arms the night we fell asleep.

But only I was awoken by the continuous beep.

Heaven got an amazing young angel that night.

But I really must ask, didju see the light?

Was there that glow at the end of the dark cave?

or did you just wake up and find that you had been saved?

So now as I sit by this angel like stone.

I want you to know I've gotten stronger at home.

It was hard at first. No one allowed in your room.

But then we realized that you weren't in a tomb.

You were all around us. All the time.

Showing up now and then to let us know you're fine.

I do have to go or I might miss my bus.

But I want you to know that I can be strong for the both of us.
