          …Chapter Three: The Mora Family

Daniel:

“Remember that tryouts are tomorrow!” I yelled at Logan as I walked backwards towards my car with Sam next to me. Logan nodded and waved before getting into his dad’s pick-up truck and leaving.

“Man,” mumbled Sam, his eyes following the pick-up truck, “Do you think Logan will finally get a car?”

I lightly shrugged as I got behind the wheel and Sam got on the passenger’s seat, “Getting a car is the last thing in Logan’s mind – your house or the mechanic’s?”

“Mechanic; my baby should be fixed by now,” said Sam as he searched through the radio. I nodded and reversed the car just as Sam got excited because LMFAO’s “I’m sexy and I know it” was playing at some radio station; he always said that was his jam, always.

It only took around 15 minutes to get from school to the mechanic’s. Although the town mostly consisted of streets with similar looking houses, there was a long road by the heart of it with all sorts of shops; from boutiques to a hardware store (owned by Logan’s dad) and flower shops, to our very own Game Stop and a bakery shop. If people needed something that wasn’t available in the market place they would take the hour trip to Denver; Camilla and Morgan had made it their weird tradition to go there every Saturday, probably to do some endless shopping.

“You okay?” Sam asked out of the blue as we neared Rob and Bob’s Mechanical Services. I glanced at him through the corner of my eyes. I know he’s genuinely concerned with my state of mind, but should I talk to him about it? Sam’s not the best person to seek for advice to be honest, but he’s been with me through thick and thin, the least I can do is talk to him about my stupid thoughts.

“It’s nothing man,” I said sighing, “The whole thing with Ramona just threw me off.”

Sam rolled his eyes, scoffing a little, “I told you, just forget about her – she’s a bitch!”

“I know, I know,” I grumbled, remembering those exact words when I told the guys what happened with her before going to school, “And I will. I just didn’t expect for her to yell at me when I tried to apologize, and I get it! Logan said those bikes are damn expensive, but come on, at least let me apologize!”

“What else can I say?” Sam shrugged, “She is a bitch.”

I slowed the car down and stopped right by the entrance of Rob and Bob’s.

“Thanks for the ride, man!” said Sam as he got off the car, swinging his backpack over one shoulder, “And don’t worry about that bitch, we’ll probably just see her in homeroom. See you tomorrow!”

After waving at Sam, I drove off towards my house hoping I’d be able to relax and take a nap before Sophia arrived. Maybe I’ll only see her during homeroom, lunch and occasionally around the halls; I mean, so far I don’t have a class with her and hopefully it stays that way, it’ll make things much easier. From the second Ramona yelled at me after homeroom I knew better than to approach her again. It was more than crystal clear that she wanted nothing to do with me, and like I told Sam, I get that and at this point I’m more than happy to oblige, but she glared at my best friends when they have absolutely nothing to do with the situation – isn’t that taking it a bit too far?

The sudden vibration of my cell phone interrupted my thoughts as I pulled into the driveway. I turned off the car and looked at the caller ID – Mom.
