Candied Apple Trees

From Autumn,

To Winter.

From Summer,

To Spring,

The days go by

So fast, so soon.

The trees are changing

Into candied apples

With brown caramel outsides

And green apple insides.

Summer has long

Since left me behind

Right behind Spring

And Winter too.

Soon they'll be back,

But not before,

The leaves shrivel up,

And crunch beneath my feet.

After the leaves are gone

The snow will fall

And trees will

Turn into clouds

And

Once again

The snow will fall

And crunch beneath my feet.

The snow will melt,

The grass will grow

And flowers will

Pop out of the ground.

And turn their faces

To the sky.

The trees will puff

Into cotton balls

And then

Grow heavy with fruit.

Then the flowers will fall

And crunch beneath my feet.

The season of fire

has come at last.

The season of

Pools and popsicles.

The sun will beat

down onto the Earth

Until it is

Baked to a crisp.

The rain will come,

Along with the wind,

To put out the flames

And the heat.

And then the burned grass

Will crunch beneath my feet.

And finally

we have returned.

To the season of Fall,

And candied apple trees.
