Chapter 30:

"Shh."
"Hehehe."
"SHH!"
I hear giggling, high pitched and excited.
Opening one eye, I peek around me in the darkness.
I am vaguely aware at the loss of Silas' arms wrapped around me and that there are three people hovering above me.
"She's awake!"
Then suddenly the room floods with light and I can see who my shadowy stalkers are.
Allie, Griffin and Nathan. They're beaming at me.
"Morning Mrs Lancaster!" Allie exclaims.
I rub my eyes, "Huh? Not yet..."
She sighs, "So?! It's your wedding day! You're practically married already!" she laughs as she tugs me out of bed gently.
Padding along the floor, I stare at my reflection, "Where did Silas go?"
Allie shrugs, "Well, we thought it wasn't very good for the bride and groom to be together on their last night as just a couple. So we kidnapped him in the night and the boys took him somewhere."
Nodding, I smile at Griffin and Nathan, "What are you two here for?"
Nathan laughs, "We're your bridesmen silly!"
Griffin punches him in the arm lightly, but it sends Nathan to the floor, "It's bridesmaids you nitwit!"
Nathan scrambles to his feet, pausing briefly to glare at Griffin before continuing, "Anyway. We're helping you get ready! Only five hours to go!"
.:Silas:.
"You DO realise there's only five hours to go don't you?"
I lift my gaze to Hansen who is hovering on the other side of the pool table, "No. No I didn't realise that." I mutter sarcastically, "But enlighten me as to how any of that concerns you."
He rolls his eyes, "Ever the comedian. As my duty as best man, I think it would be best to keep you up to date with the wedding and also tell you that I think you're cutting this far too close. You need to get ready. If you're ready before the wedding you can muck around, but NOT before you're ready."
I stare at him for a moment, "You have made a good point cousin."
He grins at me, "I knew yo-"
"Nick, do you wanna be my new best man?"
There is a snicker before a, "Sure."
Hansen's jaw drops, "Silas! I feel that as your cousin, I should tell you that you are being HORRIBLY unfair to me right now!" his voice raises a couple of octaves in a way that only girls' should be able to do.
I turn and stare at Nicholas with a completely straight face and enquire, "Hey Nick. Wanna be my new cousin?"
He nods, "Sure, why not?" he replies with an equally straight face.
Hansen stomps his foot angrily, "THIS IS SO UNFAIR! I HATE YOU!" then throws his book on the floor and storms out.
My hand jerks up and I count down using my fingers, "5-4-3-2-1." And roll my eyes when the doors open again and Hansen sprints in, picking up his book and all it's loose pages like the nerd he is.
