Brooklyn

I’d scurried away swiftly over to room 3G. I had to suppress a giggle as I heard Blair exhale loudly in annoyance. The room I’d left her to unearth was no messier than the room I had surrendered myself to.

Before me, lay a rubble of clothes, mostly underwear. Soda cans were tossed about the room; I could count six at first glance. I scanned the room, trying make out exactly what was hidden under the garbage heap.

The bedroom was enormous. The walls were painted midnight blue, with photos of baseball players scattered on them. Baseball paraphernalia was strewn amongst the clothes. I sighed and yanked out the fuchsia gloves we’d been given.

“I hate my life,” I whispered to myself and started picking up one of the soda cans and throwing it into a black trash bag.

After what seemed like years, the floor revealed itself. It was paneled with a mahogany glossy wooden finish. I finally made my way to the bed, which was pitifully made. The sheets were Boston Red Sox red, purposefully matching the team’s logo on the wall above the head.

Two hours and seven trash bags later, I stood in the middle of the bedroom, finally having the chance to admire its true beauty. It was a very regal, yet boyish habitat.

“I wonder if Blair is finished yet…” I said aloud, looking up at the ceiling to find that it had a rounded top like a dome rather than flat like most ceilings i was used to; it was actually quite elegant and I would go so far as to even call it breath taking.

I nearly jumped out my skin at a loud thud that sounded behind me. I spun around to see what had made the sound. Speaking of breath taking, my heart stopped at the sight of my most beautiful nightmare. Standing there, in the door way, was Dash Cultswitt.

            “What are you doing here?!”

“What are you doing here!?" We shouted simultaneously. Dash furrowed his brow at me.

“It’s my house!” he yelled, his voice rising to a high-pitch squeal.

            “Yeah, well—"

“What are you wearing?!” He asked, the look of confusion remained in is eyes as they dashed up and down my outfit. I remained silent, still shocked. I watched as Dash’s eyes transitioned from a look of confusion to realization.

“You’re our new maid?!” He whispered loudly, the confusion returning.

“Yeah, me and Bl—Jade are,” I choked out.

“Well, well, I could get used to this,” Dash said, a smug grin forming on his face. I narrowed my shadow-less eyes at him.

“I barely recognized my room anymore!” he chuckled. I just now had taken in his appearance. He was wearing a slim white v neck t-shirt, and blue gym shorts. His hair was wet with sweat, but still holding up in his usual style. His biceps flexed as he heaved his bag, which had caused the thud, up off the floor and into his closet. He hit me lightly on the shoulder as he passed by.

“Just been working out, sorry I stink,” he said, stepping back into the room. He moved in close, causing me to involuntarily back up.
