"Gramps, tell me a story" my grandson Roo whined as I tucked him into bed. "Mummy always does."
I looked at the boy who sat cross legged on his bed, his eyes identical to mine, and his curiosity identical too.
"Ok," I sighed, sitting down beside him, my joints cracking as I did so; I'm not as limber as I once was. "I'll tell you the best story ever yeah?"
"Yeah!" Roo beamed, his smile like one I once recognised. "But no love stories, they're for girls." He laughed as he beamed brighter.
I smiled back at him. "No love stories!" I promised. And what I told him wasn't a love story really.
