Laila woke up bright and early the next morning, having set her alarm to wake her a good half hour before she needed to. She gingerly pushed the covers back and smiled at the window. The blinds were still closed, but she knew good and well what was on the other side. Jace was most likely still sleeping, which was exactly what she had hoped.

She quickly made her bed and headed to the bathroom, quickly waking herself up as she brushed her teeth, showered, and straightened her hair. She threw her hair up in a ponytail and took her time applying makeup. There was still no sign of Jace, which meant she got to wake him for once. She hung up her towel and headed to her room, grabbing the first bra and underwear she could find and throwing them on before crossing her room and quietly shutting her door. It probably wouldn’t help at all, but at least she could tell her mom she had tried not to wake her.

She made a quick detour to her closet to throw some clothes on. She settled on a dark purple shirt that said ‘Broadway Baby’ across the chest in light pink, a pleated light pink skirt, pink leg warmers, and dark purple vans. She walked back to her room, grabbed her ipod, and plugged it into the iHome atop her nightstand. This was going to be a very fun morning.

She hummed as she waltzed to her window and yanked it open, pulling the blinds aside to let the morning sun in. “Wakey, wakey Jace!” She shouted, sticking her head out the window. “Time to rise and shine.” She wasn’t entirely sure he had heard her, but if he hadn’t he sure as hell was about to. “I think I feel like... Gleeee!” She twirled and hit the power button on her iHome, turning it nice and loud. She pranced to her vanity as the opening chords of Don’t Rain On My Parade blasted through her room.

“DON’T tell me not to live, just sit and putter! Life’s candy and the sun’s a ball of butter, don’t bring around a cloud to rain on my paaarrraaaaddee!” She snatched up her hair brush and spun, kicking off her shoes to run and jump on her bed. “Don’t tell me not to FLY, I’ve simply got to! If someone takes a spill it’s me and not you! Who told you you’re allowed to--”

“Hey!”

“Rain on my paaarrraaadddee!” She turned to see Jace at his window, looking just as angry as she’d hoped he would. She stood on her bed and began to dance around, singing even louder than before. “I’ll march my baaanndd out, I’ll beat myyy druuumm. And if I’m faannneedd out... you’re turn at bat, sir,” She pointed her brush at Jace and shrugged. “At least I didn’t fake it. Hat, sir, I guess I didn’t make it.”

“Would you shut the hell up!”

“What?” She raised her eyebrows innocently, hopping off her bed and walking to the window. “Oh, I’m sorry. Did I wake you up?”

“Turn that shit off so I can--”

“I gotta flyy once, I gotta tryyy once!” Laila cut him off singing again, turning her back to him so she could turn her iHome to the loudest possible volume. “Only can die once, right sir?” She turned to sending a teasing smile at him before hopping back on her bed and continuing to sing at the top of her lungs and dance around. She ignored his shouting and threats, continuing to sing until she heard the loud impact of something against her wall.

“Turn your damn music off!”

She hopped down and hit pause before turning to him. “What? I didn’t even notice you were still talking. Oh, by the way,” She bent down and got the unopened bottle of Pepsi he had just thrown at her. “You should really stop drinking so much soda. It’s bad for your health.” She threw it back to his side with as much force as she could, giggling at the loud thud it made on impact. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I feel like hearing some Lady Gaga!”
