Allison - Past

I remember the day perfectly. Not a single thing flawed and wrong. I remember it as clear as water. Not a single speck of dirt. I wish I didn't. I wished the memory would disappear entirely from my mind because it was too painful to bear. The bitter memory kept haunting me every time I tried to push it down.

It happened just a day before last year's Christmas.

December 24, 2012.

The head cheerleader, Amanda Stanson, had thrown together a Christmas party for all the popular students and their dates. And I, Allison Harris, was one of the dates. You see, I wasn't considered as one of the popular students in school. In fact, I was very close to the bottom of the high school food chain.

You know that girl who wears glasses who carries books everywhere and always aces her classes without even trying? That's pretty much what I was. The bookworm. The girl you threaten to humiliate if she doesn't do your homework. The loser.

Yeah, that pretty much summed up my existence.

My parents had died when I was twelve; they left me with nothing more than a lazy guardian who wanted nothing to do with me and more than half their money, which was a lot. So I really didn't worry about money since I was covered in that department. Unfortunately, being rich didn't help your status if you sucked in the looks department.

My hair was always wild curly and tangled from the moment I started growing them. I inherited the brown locks from my mom and it was always hard to maintain. My eyes were blue but hidden underneath a pair of glasses since my dad wore them too. And since dad got the blurry vision from his dad - my granddad - I guess it makes sense if I got them too. I had curves but barely, and my clothes were always too baggy because I rather hide than be exposed like the cheer squad. Their outfit covered even less than what homeless people wear on the street.

Now, if a girl sucked in looks, automatically she would suck in dating too, because all the hot guys are after the boobs not the brain. But I was a different case.

His name was Josh Tanner and he was the quarterback in the school football team. He had the looks and the brain, so that makes him extra hot. People, and by people I mean girls, drooled over his black hair and bright brown eyes. I think if he tells them to do whatever junk he says, they will do it, no matter how dirty. It's like he has his own personal slaves.

Anyway, long story short, he asked me out, I said yes, and we went out for two years.

The guys and girls thought we were terrible together since he was quarterback and I was nobody. But we fit, and we never had one moment of awkward silence and it was always good to be with him. If only I knew how little I meant to him.

Josh took me to Amanda's party and I couldn't exactly say no since he was giving me this look I couldn't resist. Josh picked me up and around eight and we were off.

The party was wild and crazy. The lights were shining brightly and you could feel the beat of the music even from a few yards away. When we went inside the house, Josh immediately left, saying that he would be back in a few minutes. And like the fool I was, I believed him.

And then half an hour past and I started to get worried. Half an hour was most definitely not a few minutes. I wanted to ask his friends where he was but I was too scared to ask. Then, one of Josh's nicer friend, Adam, came over to my side and actually gave me a smile.

Adam Thorn was nice to me. He was the only friend of Josh's that I like because he never brought anyone down, though he does had this sad looking aura around him. He said he had seen Josh went upstairs, so I went up after I thanked him.
