Oh what a glorious morning
Oh what a glorious day
I had a joyful feeling
Good things were coming my way . . .
My two men had gone off fishing
Were just now leaving the bay
My best chance to have freedom
The first in many a day . . .
The weather looked really friendly
The sun was planning to stay
Clouds were so high in the sky
I knew that they’d be okay . . .
First thing I did was have coffee
Then phoned a few of my friends
They were surprised to hear me
Calling from the other end . . .
Next thing I looked at my email
Twelve messages to respond
No need to shower inside
Just a quick dip in the pond . . .
I could forget about breakfast
I wasn’t hungry at first
No need for juice this morning
Had no concerns about thirst . . .
I was having such a great day
Surely things wouldn’t get worse
Craved the first cigarette now
I’d fetch one out of my purse . . .
Could stay in pj’s all morning
If I felt that way inclined
Nobody home to see me
Neighbors can’t see through the blind . . .
I’d pick ripe apples off the trees
Make me a luscious dessert
Have the whipped cream I felt like
Then work it off on the bike . . .
Go bra less today if I chose
But not with a see-through shirt
Dale next door just might see me
Assume I wanted to flirt . . .
I’d catch up on lots of reading
Hardly done any for days
Forget about the weeding
Instead I’d write poems and plays . . .
Oh what a glorious morning
Oh what a glorious day
I had a joyful feeling
Good things were coming my way.
