chapter 13

Meredith was in state of shock, it was the third time she made the test and came back positive.

Positive. ....

"oh God! I'm pregnant!" she thought...

Her fingers trembling, Meredith took  the stick in her  hands  the pink cross indicating just like the others that she was indeed pregnant.... with Brian's baby... my baby.... ours baby ...  she thought

In that moment  she put her  hand over her flat stomach, a small smile on her face, she needed to go to the doctor before tell Brian of the news of a new baby....

With that in mind she took her smartphone and scroll through her contacts until she reach Emily's number she press the screen and wait  until Emily answer... couple of seconds later Emily answer with a big hello...

"Ems.... are you busy?"

"for you never Mery what's going on? is anything  to do with the wedding? just calm down is next week it'll be perfect...."

"no Ems is nothing about the wedding but I can't tell you over the phone I need you to come to my apartment as soon as you can..."

"I'm on my way"

It was good that Antonella wasn't at the apartment at the time because she wanted to talk to someone who have actually family  and Emily was the right person....

HALF AND HOUR LATER

Emily knock the door and seconds later Meredith opened the door and let her in they settle in the living room the white cream sofa in crontrast with the blue wall and with a persian rug on the floor and mahogamy coffe table and Iron lamps on each side of the sofa and love seat, the cushions spilded over in colors blue,gray, white and red.

The girls seat beside of each other seconds past by and Emily took Meredith hands in hers and with a soft voice she said...

"Mery.... if you don't tell me what's going on in that pretty little  head of yours,  I'm gonna freak out so tell me whatever it is I will be on  your side always you know that?"

Mery hold her breath and seconds later she open her mouth and said..."Ems... I'm.... I'm pregnant"

"what! Oh My God that is wonderful news mery! does Brian know yet?"

"no.. no yet .. that's why I wanted to talk to you first I want you to come with me to see your doctor Newman I pressume? (Emily nod)

they were in the waiting room in doctor Newman's office, Meredith was trembling with nerves. Emily hold her hand and said...

"I know how you feel the first time I was waiting in this room I was so scare and alone, I wanted to surprise Alex, but waiting here so many doubt came in my mind... if I would be a good mom? if Alex would be happy about becoming a father? if he and I as a couple will loose our intimacy and passion? so many questions so many what ifs but  the only thing I can assure you is when you hold your baby for the first time and saw the of the man you love beside you, that you create a live with that man.... that your baby is the product of that love... the feeling is priceless Mery... so don't be scared... Brian is going to be over the moon becoming a father for a second time."

Meredith with tears in her eyes said.. " thank you so much Emily I don't know what  I wouldn't do without you.. you're the sister I always dreamed but destiny put in my path... and always you have kind words to say in the exact moment"

"that's what sisters are  for, to be in good times but most importantly  hold your hand in bad times"

in that moment doctor Newman came  out of his office and motion with his hand to Meredith and Emily to come in....

it was official meredith was pregnant doctor Newman said she have so far 8 weeks and in four more weeks he wanted to see her again. He gave her vitamins and the list of things she can't eat or drink and his mobile number in case of emergency to contact with his as soon as possible.

Meredith decide to go to her apartment change clothes and then go to Brian's to tell him the news of his upcoming fatherhood. ...

Meredith get in the apartment and she check her answer machine it was a message from the edditor and chief of vogue Italy and she was offering a job as editor in fashion and affordable clothes. Her own colunm doing what she always love to do fashion,  it's such a shame that right now she have others plan and more beautiful duties being a wife and mother, she will have to decline to the offer but after she came from Brian's or maybe I'll do it over there... she thought

it was 7:30 pm the elevator ding at the floor of Brian's penthouse, Meredith stomach was fluttering with big butterflies she press the doorbell with the papers confirming her pregnancy in hand and a big smile she waited until someone open the door... Meredith smile stay froze in the same spot her eyes widened... in front of her was Evelyn Brian's ex wife with Brian's shirt with the top buttons opened  and exposing her cleavage  with no doubt that she was naked underneath.

evelyn smile and said. . " you must be Brian's PA  ohh I need you to take care of James because Brian and I will going to the plaza I convince him to reseve a suite you know...." Evelyn blushing

Meredith only nod with her head all the color of her face drained, she managed with numb pain in her heart to formulate words...

"can I leave a message to Mr.  Johnson?"

"but of course" Evelyn answer with a saccharine smile

"can you tell him I  came here to give my notice I got a better offer at hand I'm sorry it was suddenly but life oportunities came when we're least expecting it "

In that moment Brian came with his hair damp obviously he took a bath with his bathrobe that clung to the right places his eyes wide with fear he saw the hurt and anger radiating in waves  from  Meredith. He manage to said... " Meredith I need to speak with you urgently please! "

Meredith smile that did not reach her eyes and said... "goob evening Mr. Johnson don't worry about me I know the way out"

Without waiting for his response she hurried to the bank of elevators she press the button the doors opened and Meredith got inside, tears were blurring her eyes, when she reach the lobby she gave her ring to the front desk security with the message in it she took the same envelope where her pregnancy was confirmed she took out the letter and put the brief message and the ring.

She hauled a cab went to her apartment and took the phone,  with time difference she talk the Italian editors of vogue and accept the job.

she went to pack and called a cab to be there in 1/2 hour she made reservations to take the next flight to Rome, the only thing in her mind was her baby and her baby alone, " nobody can hurt you my love, because mama will protect you" with that said she went to the boarding area ahe gave her ticket and the flight attendant smile and said "welcome aboard Ms. Mayer"

AN: I'm so Sorry for the lateness. To many situations happened but the must important is that I'm in college and from now on I promise I would update weekly, I would like to finish this story by the end of this month once again sorry for the lateness and thank you so much for the support and kind words.
