Never Coming Back

[I'm sorry. But this one is based off of a manga (I do this a lot -_-). Also it's influenced by some others. But the main one is Pandora: A Death Jr. Manga]

Prologue________~*

     Somewhere, down a dusty road towards a park, a little girl runs. Her sleek black hair is mostly straight, petering down into small, tight curls. You can't see from behind, but her bright, bloodred eyes shine like rubies. Her nose is petite and slightly upturned, and her mouth is the color of raspberries and curves upward most of the time. She has dimples and an older brother eight years older than she is; she's six years old. Her mother died giving birth and her father is an alcoholic. But it's okay, because her brother is her whole world. At least, he's a big part. But more on that later.

   This particular little girl wants to be a social worker, or maybe a lawyer. As she runs, her hair bounces up and down, along with the hood of the oversized gray sweater she's wearing. Her tan shorts are a size too big, her red sneakers a size too small. Both are hand-me-downs from her brother, but no-one knows about how the girl winces every fifth step from the tightness of her shoes. They have one other relative, a grandmother, but she's a racist,  and hates the fact that the girl's dead mother was 100% Japanese. So she doesn't ever visit, and sometimes the little girl pretends that her grandma loves her; that she sends her dresses and dolls, just like her other friends.

   This little girl's name is Leilani, and she has six best friends in the entire world.

     First there is Elizabeth--Lizard for short. Aspires to be an actress or a vet. Loves animals and Leilani. Timid, EXTREMELY shy. Leilani always encourages her, brings out her enthusiasm. Soft blonde hair and violet eyes.

   Next are the twins--Peter and Noah, different and yet practically the same. Both have red hair and grey eyes. Both have dimples with super-white teeth, and both have a high threshold for mischief and a low tolerance for authority. Peter is blunt, Noah goofy, but even so, both are cunning.

   Fourth is Michael. Black hair and bright blue eyes obscured by large glasses he doesn't need. Also shy, very naive and the polar opposite of outgoing. Very sweet, though.

   After that comes Theodore--scarily smart, goes by Teddy. Brown hair and mellow yellow eyes. Calculating, outwardly charming, possibly sinister and did I mention scarly smart?

   Finally, Charlie enters the stage. Blonde hair, green eyes, a player at only six. Kind hearted. Sometimes.

On this particular second of this particular hour, something extraordinary will happen to this particular girl. Her name is Leilani, she is running toward her friends, and her life will change quite completely in less than sixty minutes.

   There were only two people left. Leilani Mitchell was playing hide-and-go-seek with her friends, and three of the five that were hiding had been found. She was one of the few that had mad skillz when it came to hiding herself, and like the smart kid she is, she decided to hide in a place Lizard (for that's who was "finder") would be too creeped out to look in. Of course, it'd be a whole 'nother ballpark once the boys were involved, and only Teddy was still hiding with her. She'd have to be clever, because once Ted was found she'd be caught in an instant.

   Were there any small areas around her? Leila (her nickname, or just plain ol' Lei) looked around and saw a small, cave-like area, that will hereby be referred to as The Cave. Looks snug, Lei figured. So she crawled inside and her hiding skillz sealed her fate.
