Nova

"Hey bad ass." Alex said as he came into the kitchen, I rolled my eyes, taking a bite of my eggs.

"You know, I'm finally proud enough to say you're my sister." He laughed. sitting down next to me. "Stop it Alex. What Nova did was rude," mom said as she took the seat in front of me.

"Can you guys just leave me alone?" I mumbled, losing my appetite and pushing my plate away. "Nova, we have to talk about this sometime." Mom said, giving me a stern look. I leaned back in my chair and crossed my arms.

"I'm not going to punish you, I'm not angry Nova. Just a little surprised you reacted the way you did." She said, the look on her face fading into a more softer motherly look.

"Your father was really upset, I think you should talk to him again. You too Alex."

"What!" Alex cried out.

"Mom, I don't have anything else to say to him." I said, standing up ready to walk away, I didn't plan on spending the weekend with the man who abandoned me.

"Maybe the three of you should spend time together."

"I'm not going to spend time with him, and that's my final decision so don't even try on convincing me." I said, walking out of the kitchen and into my room.

I fell back on my bed, closing my eyes.

My father was the last person on earth I wanted to spend time with, if I wanted to spend time with anyone, it would be Jake. I instantly felt my lips form into a smile, just the thought of him washed away all negativity. I would call him but he's on patrol right now. I opened my eyes again, sitting up and reaching for the book on my counter, maybe some reading would keep my thoughts off of everything.

A knock on my door took me away from my book.

I sighed, knowing it would be my mother.

The door opened, but the face I saw was not my mothers. But, of Brooke, my half sister. I felt my mouth drop was she slightly smiled, I could tell she was faking it.

"Your mom told me to just come in." She said, her voice was slightly high pitched. I stood up, "excuse me." I managed to say before brushing past her and into the living room where Alex and Ryan sat in the living room, awkwardly.

I saw my mom, quickly walking up to her and whispering, "what the hell mom."

"The least you can do is get to know your siblings." She said, at that moment I knew my mom was crazy. What kind of woman just decides to have her children and the children of the bastard who left her, try to bond.

Who does that?

"I am not going to bond with her." I cried out as quietly as I could.

"Now you listen to me Nova, you will be nice to that girl. It's the least you can do, she's your sister." She hissed, the anger raising in her tone.

I was slightly taken back at how defensive she was getting of Brooke.

I looked over to my shoulder, I let out a loud sigh.

All I have to do is say a minimum of five words to the girl and kick her out, the last thing I want is mom getting even more angry at me.

"Fine." I snapped, walking back to my room.

As soon as I entered I spotted her looking at a picture taped on my wall, her long hair flowing behind her. She turned around, "I like your room, it's..."
