Scabs signify the covering up of a cut or wound.
It is the healing process, but there is still that itch.
The itch that lies underneath,
that irritates you to the point where
You subconciously move your finger over the scab,
Only to be suprised by a millisecond long stab of cold pain
As the scab is removed with the gentlest brush of your finger.
The Itch is gone
But in its place is a shiny white scar,
a harsh reminder of the time you let temptation get the better of you.
This is a kind of metaphor, for what happens when you try to recover from something that affected you, like a cut. The healing process takes time, but you have to be patient, because if you delve back on what darkness the past holds, you're only doing yourself more damage, causing a scar.
