In the Name of Allah, The Most Beneficial, The Most Merciful.
When I wrote this poem, my only intention was and still is that it would
be a source of guidance, not only for me, but for everyone out there. And I would like to say Jazakallah to Nur-aima (MuslimahAtHeart)
for being one of the main reasons why this poem is up today. Jazakallah.
Books We Read
I have come across
thousands of words.
Talking about bad boys,
cheerleaders and nerds. But do you know that
what we read,
breaks our sense of moral
and indecency to our mind it feeds?Where young girls are out
partying late at night.
That drinking alcohol is
nothing but cool and right.Where short, skimpy clothes
make you popular
And if you stick to modesty,
it makes you bi-polar.Where girls have no
sense of shameThat sleeping around, making out,
breaking hearts is nothing but a game.Where teenagers minds are
one tracked on lustTo see who has the hottest abs
or show the most bust.
In these stories, they make
it seem okay
For a boy to jump into a girl's
room and in bed with her lay.
That it's cool to hang
out with boys,
who drink, smoke, break rulesand treat girls like toys.
Another think that
really annoys me.
And in most storiesthat I hate to see.
Is when characters breach
trust and loyalty. And act as if they
are royalty.They might possess
a conscience high.
But their thoughts are
nothing but a convincing lie.For if they truly
did care.Their loved ones would
be treated fair.
Some stories always
show,a girl with evil in her
every blow.
A girl who is caked in make-up
with no real beauty. To knock her off her pedestal then
becomes the lead girl's duty. When it is time to take
retribution,the lead then portrays an
even meaner intuition.Whatever happened
to be above,
hatred and revenge, and toshow forgiveness and love?
What about those characters who
have a disease discovery.
They make lists about falling in love &bungee jumping and in the end make
a miraculous recovery?When death is near you'll
be more worried about your grave,
then some childish thing as falling in love
or surfing a wave.Another thing that leaves me shaking
my head,is when fictional parents drink all night,
not caring if their children are fed.You do get parents out there,
who lack their responsibility,
But that truly doesn't mean
all parents are this reality.
No matter how selfish the
parents in these stories may be.
It gives the children no right
to act as insolent as they want to be.Does not Islam teach us
our parents' many rights?
We cannot raise our voices,
let alone start up a yelling fight.
I love how the lead guys
girlfriend is always so mean. They make it seem as if she's
not a person and had no heart to deem.Because she's mean it's then okay
to cheat behind her back.
Does not that alone show usthe morals these people lack?
Is it really
right?
to become thieves, sneak intoclubs and get into fights?
These stories make it
seem okay,
for a heartbroken girl to
switch a guy every couple of days.Isn't that the
height of prostitution,
Even if money is not part
of the brief flirtation? What about those stories
where incest is encouraged.
Does not that alone cause our
pure minds to be sabotaged?Where we loved our brother
or sister totally platonically,
And now those stories are makingus regard them exotically!
These stories break our
sense of morals and values.
It goes against every right
and modest view.It has made us
forget,
about family honour,
love and respect.Above all, it has made
us undermine,
our Islamic Identity
which is difficult to find. Some scenes that these
stories display,in real life it is nothing but
disgusting PDA.Now I'm not judging all these
stories to date,because admittedly some
stories out there are simply great.
My brothers and sisters,
let us open our eyes.
And stop taking in
these false filthy lies. For we crave for something
against Islam.We're losing our morals
which is only causing us harm.Let us read something that
will increase our knowledge.
Not something about a stupid
fling in college. We enjoy stories that
have no real benefit.
So please don't make these
stories in the Hereafter a source of regret.
So come one,
let's try.
To read something more than
just a messed up sinful lie.
