After lunch, it took me about ten minutes and four people to finally find the gym.

I quickly changed, and went to sit on the indoor bleachers to wait.

"Everyone line up!" A tall man with no hair said. He wore a track suit, sneakers, and a whistle.

I leaned against the wall and waited for further instructions.

"Today is game day! And we're playing dodge ball," he said, overly excited.

He walked by and counted us off. "Ok, ones stay here and twos go on the other side of the gym."

Being a two, I walked to the opposite side of the gym and behind everyone else.

I looked around the room to see who was on my team, then to the other side to see who I was versing.

I don't know him. Don't know her. I think she's in my math class. I saw him in the hall. Don't know her. I continued searching for familiar faces until my eyes landing on someone already watching me.

Her wavy black hair was tied in a ponytail. She was in sweatpants and an old t-shirt.

"Shit..." I mumbled to myself and inched closer to the back wall.

Erika sent a vicious grin my way, and caught the ball the gym teacher threw to her.

Maybe she isn't aiming for me... The whistle blew, and she almost immediately whipped the ball at me. Ok, so she definitely was.

I covered my face and prepared for the impact, but it never came. I peeked my eye out and looked at the ball on the ground rolling away from me.

I snickered, and looked at her. She had another ball in her hand, and was preparing to throw it.

I dashed out of the way as soon as it left her hand. I continued dodging her angry throws as the game went on, using other people as my shields.

Only when the teacher yelled at me to throw a ball did I realized we were the last ones left.

I let out a whimper and backed up.

She threw the last ball on her side of the gym, and stepped forward.

I looked around, grabbing the closest ball near me. I had to throw it.

I got a good grip on the rubber ball, and threw as low as I could- so she couldn't catch it.

She grabbed the ball as soon as it landed on her side, and flung it straight at me.

Within the blink of an eye, I was laying on the cold and dirty hardwood floor.

I felt something wet trickle onto my cheeks and reached up to touch it. Bringing my hand back away from my face, my hand was covered in blood.

I tried to sit up, but got dizzy.

The gym teacher ran over to me. "Are you alright? We should get you to the nurse!"

"Mr. Burns, here are some tissues," A short boy said.

"I'm gonna help you up," he put his arms under me and lifted me up. "Chris take her to the nurse."

I felt myself be handed to someone else.

My eyes fluttered open and I looked up at the blonde carrying me. "Hi Chris..."

"Hi Paige," he grinned down at me with his brown eyes.

"I can walk." I think...

"You sure?" He asked.

"Uh... There's only one way to find out!" I said.
