______________________________________________

The night began with a strange visit to the Tooth Palace where Toothiana had flown in place and watched as the faint figure touched the wall where tooth cases were held. She didn’t understand what was happening or what to do with the information of what she was seeing. It was nothing bad, nothing that would put anyone in danger, or at least she hoped it was nothing hurtful.

It could be a man, she thought, a man that had formed from mist and stood in front of where Cupid’s teeth were kept. He could not take out the case and instead placed a hand on the picture, within a second a bright light made the figure dissolve as it traveled through him and to the skies where it mixed with Sandy’s dream sand.

After that, Toothiana had not seen the man and had no idea as to how he was able to make the light flow into the sand. With a sharp gasp, after a few seconds of pondering why he had just disappeared, Toothiana understood what had just happened. Cupid’s memories had been activated. The man had managed to do what her fairies did, and that was to remind children of their past memories.

Cupid’s memories would be coming to her in a dream, Toothiana thought as she flew out of the palace with five of her fairies behind her, and she had to stop them from getting to her. What was to happen if Cupid was to get her memories back? All of her memories . . .

***

Darkness. Cupid’s world had been nothing but darkness her first fourteen years of life, but she had never felt fear of it; none that she could remember, that is. Now she had been thrust back into that dark world once more, in a dream after hearing her name being called over and over again during the last few hours of Valentine’s day.

Cupid’s mind could no longer process her thoughts correctly.

She hung from a strange limbo of sorts, when one is dreaming lucidly, though not able move the body at will. Her mind was a blur, making sense of what made no sense and making no sense of what did make sense; why was she not able to see? She could not see because she was blind, but blindness did not mean you could not 'see'.

Those were her thoughts as she lingered close to a solid wall, because you see, this was one of those dreams where she could see everything while not seeing everything. The dream had some rather logical parts to it, though, like not being able to see the person who called her.

The voice sounded very familiar to her. A strong and soft, soothing voice that was great when singing lullabies, but Cupid had no idea why she knew that the voice sung perfect lullabies. It was something that she just knew, just as how she knew that that voice belong to the person who had picked out the dress she was wearing.

Cupid wore a handmade, simple cotton dress, the color and style gave away certain aspects of the person who had chosen the design for her. It was simple yet beautiful and unique and angelic in a way, which, she thought, fitted the person who had chosen it though she didn’t know who it had been.

On her feet he wore small, golden slippers that looked expensive, bought perhaps by the same person that chose the dress. Her hair was long, the color of golden strawberries and she wore it down where it cascaded down her back and stopped inches from the floor. What happened to my braid? Cupid thought, not sure as to why she would ask about a braid.

She felt around because she could not see though she could clearly see herself feeling around because of that. Cupid had never truly had a real dream before and the experience was frighteningly new, but in a good way. She saw it as a new world to explore and felt like the first time she had been able to see; she was seeing the world for the first time . . . again.
