Chapter 33

Finally, the day of the wedding has arrived...

Jennifer's POV

After a wonderful night out on the town, with Tricia and my mom I am lying here nearly ready to puke. I hope everything goes okay today. We have worked so hard to get everything just perfect. Yesterday, I went to the beauty shop and had Terrance, my beautician, put a few highlights in my hair. Tricia is going to do my makeup and hair. My dress is gorgeous. Marty begged to help pick it out but my mother set her foot down and told him that this was one of the few things she gets to do with me before she lets him have me all to himself and its bad luck to see the bride in her gown before the nuptuals. He smiled and backed off knowing she is even more stubborn than I.

Just as I was dragging my excited, nervous, anxious butt out of bed my door burst open revealing a crazy-looking Tricia.

"What the hell are you doing? We have to get ready!" she squealed happily. Rolling out of my bed I looked to her worriedly.

"I'm so nervous Trich. What if he changes his mind. I mean everything has been great between us, really. But what is he meets someone today when he is all gussied up in his tux. You know how handsome any man looks in a tux.

And he is sexy in plain jeans and a t-shirt. I mean he is going to buckle every knee in sight at his appearance alone. If he doesn't show I will just die," I said without taking a breath. And for once my best-friend was the level-headed one of the two of us. She grabbed my shoulders shaking me.

"Get it together. The only knees buckling today are going to by Marty's when he sees his gorgeous bride walking toward forever with him," she said confidently smiling at me. I grabbed her and hugged her tight.

"I love you Tricia. Thank you for being here for me today. You are my best-friend and the closest thing to a sister I ever had," I tell her with tears falling from my eyes. She surprised me by letting a few teaers of her own fall.

"I love you too and to me you are my sister," she sais as she wiped her tears and I saw the change in her eyes and nearly laughed at it.

"Now get you sexy butt in that shower and scrub, shave, fluff and buff. Do whatever you need to do because you have exactly 20 minutes before we do your hair and makeup," she said sternly as she turned me around and pushed me towards the bathroom. Somehow Tricia had managed to wipe away my fears and make me forget them altogether for a little while. After two hours of drying, straightening, curling my hair was finally done. And it looked fabulous. I managed to talk Tricia into just a little make-up so now it was time; time to put on the dress. It fit like a satin glove on the inside of the dress. I never in my life thought a wedding dress could be comfortable, but it was. After we were all ready Momma came into the room and Tricia looked at both of us and said, "I'll meet you guys down staris."

After she left the room momma came up behind me and put something around my neck. I looked down to find an esquisite diamond necklace. I looked to her questioningly. She smiled a sad smile.

"It was your great-grandmother's necklace on your father's side of the family. Things may have went south in my marriage, but your great-grandmother and great-grandfather had a beautiful relationship that lasted until the day they died. This necklace held a lot of love inside of it. Your grandmother told me that your great-grandfather Earl saved up for a year to buy this for your great-grandma Pearl. When he gave it to her, he asked her to marry him. I think it will bring you luck in your marriage to Marty as well," she said as she hugged me carefully from my side as we both looked in the mirror.
