Chapter Four

[Ben POV]

The tires screech as we park in front of two large trees. At first I thought, There's nothing on them, but then I noticed the structures on top with broad tents covering the balconies. An elevator (or lift, if you want to call it that) aligns with the trunk of the tree, and I'm guessing we have to ride that to go up to the top.

Camp Cretaceous.

It looks really unsanitary, but then again, it's on top of trees, so what would I expect? It's pretty cool though

Darius and Y/N hop out of the truck first and goggle at the camp with open mouths. I'm glad they seem to get along well, because Y/N had never really had any other friends. Neither have I, actually, but I'm content with Y/N being my only friend.

The others follow. Brooklyn snaps a few dozen pictures, and Kenji even takes his sunglasses off briefly to better see it in the light.

"Hey Brooklanders! Check this camp out! Is this not the most amazing place you have ever seen?" Brooklyn exclaims to her filming phone.

Kenji walks by with a smug face. "If you think this is cool, you should see my dad's penthouse in the main park."

Brooklyn gives Kenji an irritated look for ruining the video. Then her head snaps over to the direction of the girl in the track suit and she trots over to her. "Yasmina. Hey girl! So, as an elite athlete, how pumped are you for camp?"

She hides her face and dashes away quickly. "Not a huge fan of being on camera. Nor people."

Sammy comes walking over to Y/N and Darius, who are still looking around. "This place is almost as big as my family's ranch back home. And that's saying a lot."

It seems like Sammy is really proud of her family ranch. I would love to visit it someday.

Dave and Roxie pass by, dragging out luggages and suitcases. I spot mine repeatedly being hit on the ground by Dave, and flinch.

I can imagine how much dirt is clinging on to it so well, that I can practically see it. It's bad for my eyes.

"That's because, when we're up and running the camp will house 500 kids and 150 staff." Roxie smiles at us proudly.

"Woah, that's a lot." Y/N raises her eyebrows, and widens her pretty E/C eyes.

"Listen up!" Dave hollers, and I break my gaze away from Y/N's eyes, and face him instead, feeling embarrassed and ashamed of myself.

"Announcement time from your co-head counselors."

"Psh, still not a thing." Roxie whispers.

"Okay, everyone, there's some ground rules to cover. Curfew's at 8:00 pm and lights out at 9:00 pm sharp."

"What?"

"Lame."

Everyone except for me groans. I pump my fist happily. Rules are so great!

"This is for your safety." Roxie paces the area. "We are in a dinosaur-filled jungle. You must always keep your distance, or you could seriously be hurt, if not worse."

"Define worse." I nervously say.

Y/N shakes her head. "It's better if I don't tell you."

I swallow hard with a wince.

"Cabins are up that-a-way." Dave points up at the top of the tree, where the camp stays, making an amusing pose while he's at it.

"First one there gets the top bunk!" Yasmina cries, and they all race each other to the top.
