I still remember the day that my life changed forever:

" Danny, have you seen my car keys?" mum asked me, looking around. "I can't be late for Work."

Droplets of rain started splashing down.

I looked up from the sofa.

" Oh no, it's raining, " mum said, shaking her head.    " ah, there are my car keys –" she picked up the keys from the coffee table.

The rain continued raining down harder, like a hundred sharp needles.

I lay back on the sofa, watching my Tv.

" right then," mum said, putting her coat on. "I'll be off, Danny, remember-"

" Be a good boy and don't get into trouble, " I finished for her " I know, mum."

 Mum smiled.

"Love you, Danny," she said, walking to the door.

" I love you too, Mum," I said, absent medley watching my show. If only I knew…

A few hours passed by, the rain slashing at the windows like a wild spirit. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The storm got so bad I even saw a tree flying in the wind.

Then at the storm's worst, my Dad came in.

" Dad, how did you come through that blooming storm?" I asked.

He took his coat off and hung it up. It was soaking wet.

"Honestly, son, I don't know myself, "dad said.

"Anyway, enough about that; where's ya, mum? He asked.

 " work", I replied.

" ah," Dad said, then he gave me a suspicious look. " It's past ten, young lad. How come you're still not in bed, eh?"

" up to bed, lad," he said. I rolled my eyes
