My hands tangled around Kaiden’s neck as his slid down to my waist. He leaned us back so that he was laying on top of me on the big couch. My tongue flicked out and I licked his fangs lightly. He ground his hips into mine, making us both bite back moans. He licked my lip, asking for entrance, and I complied, tugging lightly on his hair.

He broke away to travel electric kisses down my neck to my collarbones. He nibbled lightly, finding my sweet spot easily and a small moan broke through. I could feel his lips curve upward and he brought his lips back to mine as we ground our hips against each other.

It was like I was on fire, but it was a good fire. My heart was hammering and my entire body was excited.

“You’re a tease.” He accused in between kisses.

I laughed and flipped us over, quite the feat, as we didn’t have that much space on the couch. I rocked against him, making him roll back his head and moan quietly. I took my opportunity and trailed kisses down his jaw, biting his neck gently. After licking and sucking a little I found his spot and bit down harder on that. This time he wasn’t so quiet.

He flipped us over again, this time we landed on the floor, and his hands started to roam underneath my shirt. I couldn’t focus and I was very out of breath but breathing seemed less important then remaining in contact with him, at the moment. Everywhere he touched was hot and tingled, as did the pit of my stomach and some other places. His hands pulled my shirt up and off my head and I didn’t complain.

I heard the door opening and Kaiden’s head snapped up. “Oh...I’ll just...” I heard Malachi mutter before backtracking quickly and shutting the door.

Kaiden sighed and laid his head lazily on my shoulder, not bothering to get off me. I couldn’t help but giggle a little. I was laying on the floor making out with a vampire in a hotel in New York while we were maybe being stalked by his royal vampire parents.

And to think, a week ago my life was boring and normal.

Kaiden rolled off me and to his feet in one fluid, fast movement that I almost missed. “Malachi probably needs something.” He said, offering me his hand to help me up.

Almost as if he couldn’t resist, he ducked his head down and planted a small soft kiss on my jaw, making my breathing hitch again. Then he was gone and I heard the door click shut.

I ran my fingers through my hair and sat down on the couch, turning the TV to the CW. Supernatural was on.

I love Supernatural. It was one of my obsessions. Dean was my favorite character. Jensen Ackles was just sodreamy and he played him so well. And I had a total fan-girl crush on Misha Collins.

After a few minutes the door opened and Malachi and Kaiden were suddenly there. They didn’t look very happy. Kaiden especially. His jaw was tight and he was tense.

“Kaiden’s going to go and get a friend of ours and I’m staying here to babysit you.” Malachi said, flopping himself down on the other end of the couch.

Kaiden grimaced and then was suddenly there in front of me. “I’ll be back soon, it shouldn’t take long.” Was all he said before he kissed my forehead and was gone.

We sat in silence for a few minutes, both of us pretending to watch Supernatural but neither of us actually playing any attention.

“I’m bored.” Malachi said, exhaling loudly as if he’d been holding his breath for a long time. “You know,” A sly look came onto his face, “We could do something to pass the time.”

I rolled my eyes. “Uh-huh?”

“Well, you know, I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to...practice for Kaiden.” He winked and wiggled his eyebrows and I rolled my eyes.

“You need some new pick up lines.”

He pouted for a minute then sighed, standing up. “Okay, I’m bored. Let’s do something.”

“Like?” I asked, looking around. It was pretty bare and the only thing I could think of was to watch television.

“Let’s go swimming.” He suggested.

I agreed and went into my room to put on my bathing suit while he went to get his on. Mine was a small black bikini that had silver clips in the middle and the sides of the bottom. It was simple but pretty and I didn’t think it looked too awful on me.

Before I could start to undress the door opened again. I had my back turned to it and I didn’t turn around. “I’m changing, Malachi.”

When he didn’t reply, I turned.

Gasping, I stumbled backward, trying hard to find something solid behind me. I clasped the silver clip on the front of my bikini. I could try to hit her with it or something.

Rose Evans was smiling wickedly at me. She was twirling my room key around her finger and I knew it must be the one Kaiden had given Malachi.

“Where is my darling little boy?” She said with a thick English accent.

I shook my head, not able to tear my eyes from hers. She had big, bright purple eyes. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I said stubbornly.

She laughed easily. “I think you do. But I know you won’t tell me. He would have picked a fighter.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked, truly confused this time. Did she mean that Kaiden thought I was the girl from the prophecy because I was a fighter?

“Do not test my patients, girl. I have very little left.” She said looking around the room. She inhaled deeply and looked back at me, giving me a disparaging look. She walked over to me and I was too scared to move. She leaned her head down and took another breath, smelling me. She pushed my hair back, examining my neck. “He’s been drinking from you then.” It wasn’t a question. She pulled my arms around to my front and took the bikini top out of my hands.

I just stared at her, trying to think of a way to escape. I looked over her again. She was wearing tight black jeans and huge high heels. The kind that I would have killed myself with if I’d tried to walk in them. Her shirt was deep red and low cut, showing off a very pristine body. Her hair was bouncy and golden, looking very shiny and healthy, as was her skin. She was pale on the extreme with no freckles or blemishes of any kind.

She looked scary and powerful. I was sure it would take her about one second or less to kill me.

“Well let’s get going then.” She sighed. I backed up a step in fear...and regretted it immediately. She grabbed my arm and pushed me roughly forward, through the door.

I bit down on my tongue hard and felt the blood flow into my mouth. Hoping that she could control herself, I spit some of it on the carpet. I knew that Kaiden would find it and I hoped that he would know what had happened.

She hauled me forward, shoving me roughly to the door. I saw Malachi laying on the floor, knocked out. A man was suddenly there, picking him up from the ground as well. He didn’t stir as Charles carried him with us out the door. They left it wide open and panic got the best of me for a moment. What if the maid cleaned before he got back?

Rose dragged me to a sleek, black car and shoved me in the back as Charles shoved Malachi’s limp body in the seat beside me. He handled him as if he was as light as a doll.

We drove for a long time and Malachi never woke up. Neither Charles nor Rose said anything or moved at all, except to steer. I was too scared to speak.

Where were they taking Malachi and I?

KAIDEN’S POV

I ran as fast as I could to Joshua’s house. I hated the idea of leaving Celia home alone with Malachi. I knew he wasn’t going to do anything, of course, but I’d feel better if it wasn’t just him there. What if my parents showed up?

The thought almost made me turn and go back but I knew I had to get Joshua. He was in some sort of trouble and we could use his help anyway.

Joshua was always in trouble. He was kind of like Malachi in a way, only an even bigger ladies man. And he was more of a jackass. Malachi doesn’t break hearts quite as much as Joshua.

He’s just that kind of guy that every girl throughs herself at and he seldom turns them down. It’s an off day when he doesn’t get laid a couple of times.

After a few more minutes of running I started to smell the difference in the air. It smelled like brick and stone, like something that shouldn’t be in the middle of a forest but that was. Joshua’s house came into view then and I darted over to it. It was a small cottage-looking house with a garden and a small white fence. It was set directly in the middle of a clearing.

I wasn’t really sure why Joshua liked it so much. A lot of people had assumed it was for the ladies, but he never brought them home. He was more of a hotel guy when it came to his whores.

I rapped at the door quickly, looking around. I didn’t see anything out of place.

“Who is it?” A man called through the door. I recognized Joshua’s butler and the only other person who lived with him, David.

“Kaiden Evans.” I called back, trying to keep my voice low. The door opened at once and David stood smiling appreciatively. I’d always liked him, he was a good guy.

“Kaiden.” Joshua muttered, suddenly appearing behind David.

I nodded. “What’ve you done this time?” I asked, looking around again.

He kept his voice low. “Dunno who she was. I didn’t even do anything to her. She was talking to me in a bar and I wasn’t pay any attention to her...I had some other things on my mind.” He glanced up at me, as if to see if I’d caught that part, then back down. “And she got pissed and ran off. Then all of the sudden she shows up with this huge vampire bitching about how I wasn’t paying my respects.”

Joshua had “other things” on his mind? That was new.

I looked him over. He’d never looked quite so messed up about something like this before. He was usually cocky and overestimated himself, he’d get his ass handed to him on a silver platter, recover for a few days and do it all over again.

“What’s really going on? You look like hell.” I noted that his light hair was messed up and he didn’t seem to have bothered to try very hard with his clothing. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a wrinkled blue shirt.

“I just told you. Look I just really want to get this thing out of the way.” I could tell he was lying but I chose not to push him on it. Nodding I stepped inside.

“So where is he?” I asked, looking around the small kitchen. It was cluttered and there seemed to be a lot of beer cans lying around. It occurred to me then what was wrong with him.

“You met a girl!” I said.

“Yeah, I just told you about her.” He said in a poorly fake voice.

I shook my head. “Don’t treat me like an idiot, Joshua. You met a real girl. Not one of your usual whores. You like her.” I smirked. It was about fucking time he grew up.

He didn’t deny it. “Yeah, well it doesn’t matter anyway.”

“Why not?”

“Because she saw me and this vamp fighting about this girl, assumed things and ran off.” He said, giving the wall a bitter look and popping open another beer can.

I took it from him and threw it into the sink. “And this is how you expect to get her back? Drinking your days away? How many days have you been like this?”

He shrugged. “David, please clean the mess up in here. If any vampires come around looking for Joshua please say he is away on business.” I commanded before grabbing Joshua and walking out the door with him.

“Where are we going?” He asked as I took off running before him. He caught up easily.

“I’ve got a bit of a problem myself and I was hoping you could help.” I flashed him a look and I knew he knew.

He nodded. “About time.”

I glared at him. “Right back at you.”

He snickered. “What’s she like?”

“She’s amazing. She’s pretty and smart. And she never falls for any of Malachi’s shit and she can hold her own against anyone.”And she’s funny and she has these gorgeous green eyes that I love and these full, perfect lips that feel so good. And her laugh is so soft and addictive...The list went on in my head.

“Yeah, but how’s she taste?”

I shrugged, trying to downplay it. “Well...the usual...you know.” I mumbled the last bit, not looking at him.

He snickered and I turned to glare at him. “What about your wh- I mean girl.” I caught myself before I could say whore, knowing that if Joshua really liked her I’d piss him off.

He grinned. “She’s awesome, man. I don’t even know how to describe her. And she taste’s so good.”

I looked at him in shock. “You bit her? She doesn’t care?”

“Nope. She actually thinks it’s kind of cool.” He grinned happily and I couldn’t help smiling for him.

We reached town and had to slow down and blend in. “Where are we going, anyway?” He asked.

“Hudson hotel.” I answered, glancing around us. Joshua caught that and did the same.

“You parent’s don’t know your here?” He asked glancing around again as he said it.

He’d never had to deal with my parents but that didn’t mean that he didn’t know just as well as anyone what they could do.

I shook my head. “I don’t think so.”

When we opened the door to the Hudson many people turned to look at us. Mostly girls. Joshua didn’t even seem to pay attention to them and I smiled to myself.

When we got up into the hallway on the fifth floor we both froze. We could see the room door from here, wide open. Joshua inhaled deeply and whipped his head around.

“Go check the room.” He ordered me and I knew he’d gone off to follow my parent’s trail.

I was at the doorway in a second. A lamp was overturned but everything else was in place. I looked over to the bedroom door which had been shut. Before I could get there though, I could smell Celia’s blood.

There was a little bit, a few drops maybe, on the carpet outside the bedroom doorway. I ran my hand along it and found that it was dry.

How long ago had they taken her?

I darted to Malachi’s room and found his empty too. I’d told him to stay with her at all times, so he’d probably been with her when they’d come. I felt overwhelming gratitude towards him. He’d been with her, he’d probably been trying to help her. And now she wouldn’t have to face them alone, at least.

Joshua came into the room, looking around. “The trail ended outside the hotel. They obviously got into a car. It’s a faded trail though. Probably an hour ago.”

An hour ago. I’d left an hour and a half ago.

If I’d just stayed she’d have been fine.

Joshua gave me an exasperated look. “We’re gonna go get her aren’t we?”

I nodded, giving him a pleading look. I couldn’t lose her.

“Fuck.” He muttered, clearly not excited with the prospect. “Fine. But can we at least make a plan first?”

I shook my head. “There’s not enough time. If we’re fast enough maybe we can cut them off.”

He cursed again. “Well, let’s get going then.”
