She grabbed her wand and pushed it up her sleeve, taking one last glance at her reflection in the mirror. Alexandra Potter is a witch and was transferring for her last year of schooling to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Chapter One: The Year Begins with a Kiss on the Cheek

Tuesday, September 1st

"I better be off Mr and Mrs Delacour," I said, hugging my adopted mother around the neck.

"Oh sweetie, we hope you have a great year at Hogwarts! Remember that Fleur and the rest of the Beauxbatons girls will be arriving early in the year for the Triwizard Tournament!" Mrs Delacour exclaimed.

"That's right, I miss Fleur so much already!" I said with a wide smile.

Beauxbatons, the school that both Fleur and Gabrielle attended started a week earlier than Hogwarts. It has been rather bland without the two of them around. I have actually opened a book in the last week to see what I would be studying for my seventh year at Hogwarts, and for me to do that I must have been really bored.

"I know darling, she'll be with you before you know it," Mr Delacour reassured, stroking my blonde locks.

"Hey!" I exclaimed playfully, "You're messing up my hair!"

"Sorry!" he replied, with a smile spreading across his archaic features.

"Your parents would have been so proud of you, being appointed head girl and all," said Mrs. Delacour sweetly.

"It's vey odd that Dumbledore has given me the position of head girl... I mean- he hasn't even met me yet!" I replied, more to myself than anyone else.

"You'd be very surprised what Dumbledore knows honey! Don't question the great wizard," said Mr Delacour, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I suppose so. I do need to get going. Don't worry, I'll apparate. You won't have to take me anywhere," I said, hugging both Delacours.

How I would miss them.

Once our goodbyes were exchanged and a couple with a few tears shed, I gazed over at the room one last time, my lids fluttered shut and I disapparated.

As I opened my eyes slowly, I peered around. A strong smell of smoke was wafting in the air and I instinctual smiled to see what stood in front of me. The legendary Hogwarts Express in all its perfect shiny scarlet glory.

"Alex! About time you showed up!" yelled a cheery voice behind me. I turned around to face where Angelina Johnson stood, with a large smile plastered across her deep toned complexion.

"Ange!" I called happily, as I ran up to her, jumping into her outstretched hands.

I had met Angelina already over the holidays when I was buying some new broomstick cleaning supplies at the Quidditch store in Diagon Alley. Both of us being interested in Quidditch, prompted us to start talking and we quickly became good friends quite quickly.

One weekend we even ended up having a brief practice Quidditch match with the rest of the Gryffindor team, except for the two beaters who I am yet to meet. Oliver Wood offered me a position with my little brother Harry as seeker, instantly.

"Al, I haven't seen you in a whole two days. TERRIBLE!" shouted Angelina, trying to make herself clear over all the loud surrounding chatter. I couldn't help but giggle softly when a few passing first years looked at us with frightened expressions, their paces quickening.
