There We Were Part 2

We laid in bed for a little while, just talking, until my stomach growled loudly.

I looked up and smiled. “Time for food.”

Lucas grinned back. “So needy!” He jumped up and handed me my crutches. “Hurry up, cripple. I’m starving.”

I wrinkled my nose at him. “Would if I could but I can’t.” I sighed. “I hate the crutches. You have no idea how annoying they are.”

Lucas laughed and, without warning, snatched the crutches from under my arms. I swayed and fell back on the bed.

“You jerk!”

He tucked my crutches under his arms and hobbled around jokingly. “This isn’t so bad. You’re exaggerating.”

I just raised my eyebrows.

After a bit, Lucas grimaced. “Okay. They kind of hurt your armpits. I’ll give you that.”

I nodded, then held out my hand. “Okay, now that you sympathize with me, can we please go get breakfast?”

Lucas laughed and wrapped an arm around my waist, helping me to my feet. “Of course, my good sir. What do you wish for your dining pleasure this morning?”

I pretended to think, stroking my chin. “Hmm… perhaps an Egg Benedict, with a three cheese omelet and Belgian waffles. And a mimosa to top it off.”

Lucas flicked my head. “Happy hour’s not for a while.”

I winked. “It’s happy hour somewhere.”

Lucas rolled his eyes and thundered down the stairs, stopping at the bottom to wait for me. I held my crutches in one hand and clung to the banister with the other, hopping on one foot all the way down. Lucas caught me at the bottom and lifted me up, planting a kiss on my mouth. I smiled.

“To what do I owe this pleasure, my good sir?”

He kissed me again. “Just because I love you.”

After breakfast, (which was just cereal) Lucas put the bowls in the dishwasher and turned to me.

“I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a serious case of cabin fever. You want to go somewhere? The mall? Movies? Starbucks? Anywhere?”

I frowned. “Lucas, I still look like a war victim.”

He rolled his eyes. “Bullshit.”  He steered me to the hall mirror and stood behind me, his hands on my waist.

“Look. Your eye isn’t black anymore, and your lip’s a lot better. And the bruises are pretty much gone.” As he spoke, he traced each feature with his finger.

I bit my lip. I still had the gash on my forehead that was taped together with three butterfly bandages and smaller slices that were now thin scabs. “The cuts… “

“Are barely noticeable. Come on, you know you’re bored too.”

I sighed. “Okay. I have been wanting to see Tron Legacy.”

Lucas grinned. “I call shower first.”

I grabbed his wrist, a smirk creeping across my face. “Hey. I need help, remember?”

He considered this, then nodded. “I’m not complaining.”

Ehh. I don’t like this chapter. But I have SUCH BAD WRITERS BLOCK AND IT’S DRIVING ME INSANE. Sorry :/ I’ll upload again when I break through the brick. Until then, I’m awfully sorry I left with this. But it’s better than nothing, right?
