There was a storm when I woke the next morning. I could hear the rain pounding against the windows and clouds blocked off the sun. The moment I opened my eyes, I could feel that my muscles in my legs were strained and I had a horrible headache. When I got to my feet, I stumbled, my muscles tightening at my every move.

I found my way to the door. For such a large house, it was awfully quiet. I could hear Colton doing something on the floor below, and I wasn't sure if the noise was echoing or if he was just really loud. It took me a couple of minutes to get down the stairs. I was clinging onto the handrail and nearly fell a few times.

Colton had his back turned me when I entered. Immediately, he spun around to face me. Even though he looked exhausted, he was still attractive. His hair was patted down with water, and I wasn't sure if he had just showered or been out in the rain.

"I cleaned your wounds while you were asleep," He says dryly, before reaching behind him and grabbing a plate. On the plate was breakfast food, and he pushed it towards me. "Eat." He ordered when I grabbed the plate and looked sternly at the table on the other side of the room.

Sitting down, I looked over my legs. All the scratches and the place where the beast bit me were wrapped up and covered, and other then that it all seemed fine. My gaze moved back to Colton; I was thankful that he had helped me. Colton's eyes lingered on my legs for some reason, probably just making sure he didn't miss anything.

"Eat," He repeated himself, jaw clenched tight. I nodded slowly, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion to his strange behavior. "You're too thin. You need to eat." He grabbed the fork for me, sounding rather impatient and stabbed some food on the plate before bringing it to my lips.

I could feel my eyes widen in surprise, and I slowly opened my mouth and let him place the food in my mouth. I shut my lips around it and pulled it off the fork. When I looked back up at Colton, he was giving me a smoldering look. Without even realizing, I leaned towards him, parting my lips as I stared back at him.

Everything was always different around Colton. Especially now, after the physical transformation- everything was so much more different. There was a weird feeling burning inside of me and I couldn't put a label on it. I could sense Colton was danger when we first met. But he was good to me. Now he was cold.

I picked at my food, every few seconds glancing up at Colton through my eyelashes. He sipped a steaming drink out of a mug, making eye contact with me every time I snuck a look at him.

"I've got a change of clothes for you. They're upstairs; I will carry them into your bedroom for you." He told me, standing up quickly. I wanted to stop him, to speak to him, but I didn't know what I would say- and I couldn't say anything anyway.

So I tapped my fingers two times against the table to catch his attention, and curved my lips up into a timid smile.

And his eyes changed. They melted; they went from being that dark, emotionless, hard, threatening stare to suddenly looking all soft and almost - I know it sounds weird but - tender. He lost his guard for a moment; I could see it in his eyes. The skin at the edges of his eyes crinkled just slightly, like he was beginning to smile. And for that one moment it was like I was the only person in the universe as far as he was concerned and he was happy, he was happy to see me smiling.

That's how I knew.

Colton wasn't gone. He was still here. For some reason he was acting emotionless, but he was still there. Underneath that cold exterior was my Colton.

He broke eye contact first, exiting the kitchen and leaving me hanging in the kitchen. For some reason a blush grew on my cheeks, and I ducked my head to hide it. I quickly finished off the rest of my food, listening to Colton's footsteps as he walked around upstairs.
