The Cool Nerd : Chapter 9

Junior Year : Day 17

Lassly's P.O.V

I slowly walked to the other side of the hallway. Josh had said to me that he wanted to see me after school. I just wanted to make sure since he might just forget. “Hey Josh,” I said nervously. The blonde girl besides him giggled. “Look Joshie, another dork's trying to hit on you.”

I ignored that girl’s rude remark.

“Yeah, get away dork. I know I’m hot but the feelings not mutual towards you,” he snapped rudely. That hurt. I tried to look into his eyes, but he just wouldn’t meet my gaze. “I thought you wanted to see me after school?” It sounded like more like a question than a statement.

I was confused and hurt. Why did he think that he could just get away with this? Doesn’t he have enough of a heart to at least care for once? “What are still you doing here? Move away slowly,” the brunette behind him said, motioning me to move. Josh grinned at her. “Yeah nerd, and its people like you that I feel ashamed being seen with.”

“Okay then,” I said turning around. I started walking quickly, covering my mouth with my hands. Where was Nicole when you needed her? It’s like I don’t even know her anymore. She doesn’t even glance at me.

I stumbled back, bumping into a hard figure. “Watch where you’re going,” I snapped rudely.

My eyes widened when I saw who it was. “Caden, is that you?” I asked, shaking my head. Of course it was him, Lassly. He’s right there in front of you.

“Oh Lassly, you go here too! Thank god! I am lost. Think you can help me out?” he asked, flashing me a smile. “Yeah sure,” I mumbled, nodding my head.

When he saw my face, his smile turned into a frown. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“N-no, I’m okay. I-its okay, Caden, I’m fine.”

I didn’t know how I was suddenly stuttering. It was unlike me, that was for sure.

“Was it a boy?”

His face was expressionless.

“Yeah, but I’m over it. Nothing new, I’m totally used to this,” I said slowly, fighting for the right words.

He pulled up his sleeves. “Where is he?”

I shook my head. “No, don’t get yourself in trouble just for me. It’s your first day. You’ll probably be in someone else’s side tomorrow and I’ll just be another dork to you,” I mumbled.

“I won’t hurt him, just for you though since you’ll miss his pretty face. I just want to see the face of the asshole that hurt you,” Caden said, scanning the hallway.

I knew exactly where Josh was. I pointed towards him, realizing the fact that I just told Caden who I really liked. I gave in. Josh didn’t deserve to be hurt. I knew Caden wouldn’t hurt him. He gave his word, and I trusted him but seeing Josh get hurt was like seeing myself get hurt. I don’t want to sound too cheesy, but the main point is that I don’t like it when Josh gets his ass whipped by another guy. He probably never has gotten his ass kicked so I shouldn’t even worry.

“He’s a total hot-tee,” Caden said, putting his hands on his hips. I stifled a laugh, not letting myself make a fool out of myself again. It’s like that joke, “Isn’t it funny when the person's laugh is funnier than the joke?”

Caden then, grabbed my hand and pulled me towards Josh. I instantly blushed, me being the girl I was. When we were exactly in front of Josh, Caden whispered in my ear. “What I’m about to do doesn’t mean a thing.”
