Brian Kersten Minnesota, who grew up on a Wisconsin farm in Appleton, has been a fervent advocate for animal welfare throughout his career, deeply influenced by his formative years surrounded by farm animals. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota, graduating with high distinction in 1977, a pivotal step that steered him toward veterinary medicine.

In 2021, he took a significant step by founding Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin. This clinic is dedicated to providing affordable veterinary services, ensuring pets receive the necessary care irrespective of their owners' financial capabilities. His specialty in small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry has made him a trusted figure in veterinary care, renowned for his compassionate and thorough approach.

Additionally, he serves the broader community as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin, providing his services to various clinics, thereby enhancing the reach of his expertise in animal healthcare.

His commitment to veterinary medicine solidified after he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. His career began in a mixed animal practice in Burlington, Wisconsin, where he developed a comprehensive skill set. In 1985, his career path took a turn toward humanitarian aid, and he spent 2.5 years in Haiti, helping improve the lives of rural communities and their animals-a testament to his dedication to both veterinary and humanitarian efforts.

Upon returning to the U.S. in 1987, he settled in Baldwin, Wisconsin; in 2001, he took ownership of a local veterinary practice. He served as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society until 2003. After selling his practice in 2016, his passion for veterinary care led him to establish a low-cost clinic in 2021 to provide continued community support.
