I am a British journalist and aspiring writer. I have been writing fiction off and on since I was a teenager: mostly short stories, but as with most people, I have a few unfinished novels that I'm keen to finish one day. 
I write for a living but the constraints of my type of journalism, the rigours of house-style and the need to follow a very precise structure don't offer much in the way of creativity. 
And I have so many stories I want to tell. 
So far, in my relatively short life, I've been maybe 100 different people and known a million others. What I write stems mostly from those experiences, or is, at least, inspired by them. 
I don't have a particular genre. You could say what I write is social commentary, but I don't have an agenda as such. 
I just want to tell my story, using language cleverly and creatively to convey a simple but hopefully beautiful narrative. I'm inspired by quirks of life; its richness and and its pains; the kindness of strangers but also the bitter ironies and twists of fate; the struggle in so many of us between our heads and our hearts. 
I want to share some of my stories here, and to share in the stories of the many other, gifted writers here who also want to harness the power of Wattpad to tell their stories. 
I like to write short stories, but the first collection I am sharing here have a central narrative, which means that taken together they will form a longer body of work -- a novel broken down into a series of self-contained acts.
Red North is a story in itself -- kind of science fiction meets alternative history. Neither is a genre I'm too familiar with, but I liked the idea I had for this one -- it's a classic 'what if?' scenario.
