Chapter 40 : New Year

 It was the morning of the new year and the people were gathered at the shrine atop the mountain to pray

Nishikata : ( he yawned) was it really necessary to get here this early? It's not even 6 o clock

Shuichi : I agree with yuki

Suika : you two need to put a halt on the lazy front..

Shuichi : don't you dare call me lazy or.... I'll make you drink death wish coffee

Suika : what an adorable little threat

Nishikata : but was it really necessary to come this early its still very dark...

Suika : we need to get there and watch the sunrise right? So move yourselves

Shuichi : ok ok..... Let's go yuki..

As the three climbed the stairs there were many others who were also climbing in order to see the sunrise eventually the reached the top

Nishikata : sheesh good thing my leg is almost completely healed.....( he felt a tug his shoulders) 

Takagi : hey nishikata ( she said while smiling) 

Nishikata : oh hey takagi... ( he said rather tiredly) 

Takagi : didn't get enough sleep? 

Nishikata : something like that.... 

Takagi : were you awake till 12 last night for the new year bells? 

Nishikata : I was.... I slept at 12:30 woke up at 5.... 

Takagi : that's less than 5 hours... That's unhealthy

Nishikata : aww cmon.... Not sleeping for many hours straight runs in my blood.... Oh I almost forgot happy new year....

Takagi : happy new year to you too.... So how do I look? ( she was wearing a red kimono) 

Nishikata : uh..... You look.... I don't have words to describe how you look.... 

Takagi : is that a compliment? 

Nishikata : on one hand I wanna say you look beautiful and cute but on the other is wanna say you look like a bleeding tomato.... God, that red stings my eye... 

Takagi : oh...... Ok...... 

Nishikata : I DIDN'T MEAN TO MAKE YOU SAD!!

Takagi : it's fine... Atleast you're honest.... Have you made a wish yet? 

Nishikata : nah... 

Takagi : let's roam around for a bit before making our wishes... 

Nishikata : sure why not.... 

They started roaming around the shrine and the stalls that had been set up early in the morning..... 

Nishikata : did you come alone? 

Takagi : no I'm with my parents... Speaking of.... MOM!!

her mother could be seen in the distance with her father.

Mom : there you are Rie we were searching all over for you... Oh good morning nishikata

Nishikata : good morning...

Dad : oh hey nice to see you, you're here alone?
