A hotel in Los Angeles.
(Chloe's POV)

We had been in Los Angeles for two days now. It was now Friday. Tomorrow would be Christmas Eve.

I wanted to go home.

Sam was out getting food, Steve was tracking Rumlow, who I was starting to doubt was actually here, and I was stuck in the hotel.

I switched on the TV and put on the locale news.

I might as well.

I sat back in the chair I was sitting in and got comfy. Sam and Steve wouldn't be back for a while so I might as well get some sleep in now.

That was a mistake.

Chamonix, France. January 19, 2015.

"No!" I screamed as he moved the gun in Annie's direction.

The gun went off, and all I saw was red. I had outstretched my arms as the gun went off and the bullet hit my arm.

I stumbled backwards and Annie caught me setting me on the floor. "Are you okay?" She asked to which I nodded.

"Pathetic." The doctor said as Annie stood up.

He held the gun in his hand for a minute before raising it again. This time I was too slow. The gun went off and hit Annie in the head.

I screamed as she crumpled to the ground. I grabbed her and cradled her head in my lap and saw that her eyes were still open.

They were glassy. Almost like dolls eyes.

I stared at her until my eyesight got blurry from tears. I blinked and the tears fell onto her face. I covered the bullet hole with her red bangs, then closed her eyes carefully.

She could have been sleeping.

But she wasn't. She was dead. Just like everyone else.

I screamed as they pulled me away from her body.

I screamed the entire way to my room.

I was so angry, so furious, that I could feel my powers creeping to the surface. Had it not been for the fact that they shut me in my room, I would have killed every single last one of them.

I screamed at the door, then threw anything that I could get my hands on.
After a minute I found the nesting doll that I had. I was about to throw it when I came to my senses.

I fell to the floor exhausted. I rolled the nesting doll over in my hands. It was red, and blue, and green, and lots of different colors. It was the smallest one, I think, so it wasn't much to look at.

I popped off the top and flipped it over. A ring fell out and onto my hand. It was silver and had a diamond. It was beautiful. Not much. But beautiful non the less.

I put the ring back into the nesting doll and the put the top back on. I picked up my room, and put everything back, then sat on my bed. I put the little nesting doll under my pillow where I kept it along with a knife I had stolen a while ago.

I looked around at my room. I had my bed on one wall, my wardrobe on the opposite wall, a toilet, and sink in the corner, a desk with books by the door and a table by my bed.

I didn't like my room, but I was grateful for what I had.

"Chloe."

"Chloe!"

I opened my eyes and saw Sam standing in front of me.

"What?" I asked startled.

"I got lunch. You good?" He asked.

I nodded my head and took the bag of food he handed me.

That was weird.

                    ————————

I sat at a table outside a cafe watching the people pass by.

"I don't know Steve. It's been two days. There's no sign of him. None. I think we should just go home." I said as I sipped my hot chocolate from the cafe.

"We still have till tomorrow. Rumlow is way to dangerous to leave out on the streets." Cap said through the coms.

"Still." I said looking over my shoulder.

I kept getting the weird feeling that I was being watched.

"As much as I hate to say it Cap, I agree with her. There's no sign of him. We should go home. Regroup. Figure out a better way to find this guy." I smiled listening to Sam.

"Besides, it's almost Christmas. Do you really want to spend Christmas looking for a ghost?" I asked taking another sip of my drink.

"I guess you're right. Okay. Let's meet up at the hotel and go home." Cap said with a sigh.

I looked over my shoulder again and saw someone staring at me. "Cap. You got eyes me, right?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"The guy two tables behind me. He keeps staring at me. Do you recognize him?"

"No. Sam, find Chloe the best path to the hotel. I don't know who this guy is, but just to be safe make sure she stays in public." Cap said.

I pulled out five dollars and left them on on the table the left.

I could hear Sam giving me directions on where to go when Cap spoke again. "He's definitely following you Chloe. Ten feet behind you."

Great.

I could feel my heart rate pick up. "Chloe, take the next left and cross the street." Sam said in my ear and I did just that.

I wasn't paying attention to where I was and bumped into someone. "Sorry." I said and noticed that I was at the Chinese Theater.

I looked at all the people and the stars on the ground and thought how it was a lot like Times Square. Then I felt a sharp pinch in my neck.

"Ow!" I groaned.

"What happened?" Cap asked.

I grabbed my neck and pulled a small stick out of it. "Oh no." I said looking around as stuff started to blur together.

"Chloe?" Sam asked.

"Chloe what happened?" Cap asked.

"I've been drugged. You have to get me out of here!" I mumbled trying to get somewhere.

Anywhere. Just so long as I was away from people.

My vision started to get blurry, and red and black, and then I hit the pavement.

I'm back! Again.😅 What did you think? What's gonna happen?😮
Who knows? Just kidding. I do.😁 let me know your thoughts! Bye!😘
